Some very interesting (and very confusing) informations on the web...  Now another version of the T100 exists: the T100TA-DK0005H. Of course more expensive.

With 32 GB (SSD) in the tablet (= the screen). And 500 GB (HDD) in the base (= the keyboard). One more time, I must wait and see.

No problem, I don't NEED this PC. I just WISH a new toy. Maybe the solution before Christmas 2014? With Windows 9... ::)

Of course most of you think that Windows 8 isn't dedicated to intelligent users, with powerful conventional computers (a central unit, an ordinary monitor, a keyboard, a mouse).

Windows 8 was made for dummies like me, who like little gadgets and understand nothing (just my opinion). But I want to try it (a pity to miss the "wave"). Not easy to choose the right PC.

Many forums about the T100. And... another version will appear soon. With a 64 GB SSD in the screen and a 500 GB HDD in the keyboard. Maybe in Germany?

I'm not in a hurry... ;)

For me it's more a case of if it isn't broken then don't fix it.

If you are coming in new without having had Windows 7 I guess now that they have Windows 8.1 it's not so bad. The reports are more favourable than they were for Vista as far as I can tell, so all in all maybe it's not so bad.

For me Windows 7 has a lot of life in it still and I won't be changing for a while because I like how everything is working ! (Touch wood).

Hi Freddy, I use Windows 7 (please don't laugh at me, the Starter edition) since the day I got a netbook.

Perfect OS for me. I say "perfect" because all the dummies like me can understand all what they do, like with XP.

I think it's very disappointing and frustrating to ignore Windows 8. As always I'm late (very late) but I want to understand.

The first step is to buy a new PC. :)

I wouldn't laugh at all. I forgot you had 7 already, sorry  :-[

The starter edition clearly did all it needed to, so you made the right decision I think :)

Enjoy whatever you do, I keep wondering whether to get a tablet computer, can't decide.  :-\

Yes Freddy, I understand, painful choice.  ;)

For now I'm just taking a look at the MS Surface 2.

No Android inside, just Windows...  :)

Yes the Surface 2 looks good and it has a bigger screen than most tablets. Very tempting  >:D

I've been using win 8 (now 8.1) long enough now to 'overload' my computer with applications and stuff (almost a year now).  I came from vista, so it's not really a fair comparison. I had to to a ton of small modifcations to get it working properly as a desktop OS, which eventually worked out ok. The upgrade to 8.1 was a bit of a disaster though: the installer automatically changed my password to that of windows live (took me a while before I figured that one out) and it rremoved most of my customizations without adding much value, so I didn't really like the upgrade.
Then there is the 'sleep' mode, which worked fine for the first few months, then there came an auto update for my graphics driver and since then, the sleep tend to 'hang' when I restart it again.
Finally, google hangouts sometimes causes a crash.
So, it can be better, but it's an improvement compared to vista...
Soon, I'll have a bucket full of apple stuff cause I'll have to develop that side of our intelligent home automation project, which will be an adventure.
I have also been thinking about this surface 2 though ...

Many thanks Bragi for your precious informations about your experience (ah! the updates...).

Another reason to read lots of testimonies and compare, before jumping into the "fantastic" world of Windows 8 and tablets. :-\

I'm thinking of getting a tablet soon but will be going Android, after trying windows 8 for a couple of months I realise that the Apps on Windows are way behind Android and the problem is that they are so far behind that I don't see them ever catching Android up.

Windows is great on a real PC but on a tablet ... no not for me.

I had my eye on a Nexus 10 too. You hit the nail on the head regarding apps, though to be honest there are a lot of crap apps on Android. More does not necessarily mean better I am beginning to think. I like my Android phone though and the few apps I actually use could be counted on two hands. Surface is going to have the main ones I think.

I can't decide yet, but for me the order of preference sits as Samsung Google Nexus 10 in number one spot and then the Surface 2 next, with iPad coming in third. But it's a lot of money so will have to wait a while.

There is also the 8.9 inch Amazon Kindle HDX, it has a 2.2 GHz quad core CPU and 2560x1600 screen res, I believe it is the best spec tablet right now.

I doubt it would run SL for GT but really one needs a powerful gaming rig to run it at an expectable frame rate and in a high res.  IMHO

The trouble with Amazon's offerings is the watered down apps. The last I heard you do not get full access to the Android apps such as are on Google Play. If you are happy to have what Amazon deems suitable then yes it's a nice bit of kit for that price.

Also the Nexus 10 is a 10" screen at 2560 x 1600...but dual core I think.

If I'm going to spend a load of cash on one I want it to last, everything is going multi thread, quad is probably the way to go. I have also experienced dual core lag on a tablet, it's not good, though some normal people might be able to put up with it.  ;D

Regarding Apps, the last time I looked windows 8 didn't have quality or quantity  :2funny:

Amazon does cherry pick the apps for Kindle, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, it will cut down on crap ones I hope.

You know I don't think there is one on the market right now that is up to my requirements, ask me in six months  ;)
