Dissertation on creativity and digital media
« on: December 04, 2009, 01:30:50 am »
Hi everyone,
This is my first post and I want to say hello to everyone.
I'm french and my english is not perfect, so i apologize before....

I'm a product design student, and for my graduate, I'm working on creativity with digital tools. For that graduate, I need to writte a philosophy dissertation about creativity and computers.

So what I want, is to talk with a chatbot about creativity, and if he (it) thinks he(it) is able to create. I tried with several chat bot like ALICE and jabberwacky but they are limited....

Do you know a chatbot that will be more powerfull ?

Thanks by advance.

Cheers.

color382,
Would you consider that extrapolation is 'creative'?
Just a facet to consider.

Welcome,

I would have thought more of CAD or CMC regarding digital creativity in a strict sense of speaking.

If, on the other hand, you want a computer program to write a poem then that is (and has been for
many years), easily done.

While some good chatbot programs seem loaded with a lot of WOW factor when first used, it's easy
to forget that all one is doing is talking to some prewritten code of another person.

If you feel that a chatbot is being creative by means of a conversation then you have suspended your
disbelief long enough to enjoy the temporary fantasy or you've come across a very good chatbot.

Check out the Chatbot or chatterbot collection on this site.

We also have a section / thread regarding our favorite / best chatbot.

Best of luck!

Art,
I wanted to argue a point, but after giving the proper amount of time to digest, I believe what you are saying stands.
You know my position on A.I. as much as anyone could, but it has in fact been my experience that some A.I.'s
have the right stuff so to speak, and you coverd that by saying "or you've come across a very good chatbot"
So their is no hot air towards you. I miss your writing because you are knowledgeable IMO and it was nice
to read from you once again,
Health, wealth, and good times to you
J.

color382,
You might try looking into chatbots that have a claim to have/use Artificial Intelligence instead of just 'chatbots'

Regards,
J

One,

Thanks for your kind words. I've been semi MIA for a while due to some health issues but hopefully the worst of that is behind me now and I can continue to contribute in my own twisted way.

My short term memory is...what were we talking about? :D
