Title: KnyteTrypper's lost open source bot recovered
Post by: DemonRaven on December 19, 2014, 10:26:14 pm
This bot was lost but i managed to sift the original code from the way back machine and i have it posted at chatbotfriends.altervista.org/AlkaliChatbot.html I was a fan of Him and had great respect for him and enough of his pages have been lost i could not stand to have one more thing gone. To get the code just do as he said right click on the page and select view source code then copy and paste it to your own html editor or worse case scenario notepad.

It's nice to know someone else knew him / of him.

He was a very good friend of mine and we'd often spend time swapping ideas and comparing thoughts as to which type of bot was best. The discussion often took weeks over lots of emails and usually ended with some agreements and some disagreements but we always agreed to disagree and remain friends, the way it should always be.

He served as an inspiration and a resource for those with questions. A good guy who is still missed today.
(Glad you salvaged some of his work!) O0

First there was the laptop, then the notebook, then the handheld.  What's next? -- KnyteTrypper

Here is what's next:  Alkali Chatbot is now running on a webserver using PHP ...

http://elizabot.com/KnyteTrypper (http://elizabot.com/KnyteTrypper)

The JavaScript was carefully modified in order for Alkali Chatbot to log conversations.

That is cool. I was not aware that anyone had also gotten and done something with it. I did not see many posts in his old forums about it. I also did not find anything on the internet. So i am glad you did do something with it and if you don't mind i would like to add the link to my website.

DemonRaven,

The short answer is yes, but the long answer is no.  Yes, because the links are broken.  No, because Elizabot's domain names remain registered.

So Elizabot is asleep, but still alive on the web in the whois database. Either, the former webhost got greedy, or it seems the prices of everything are skyrocketing.

In any case, Elizabot is currently in search of a new webhost.  So, eventually, she and all her links will be restored from her full backup.

Who was KnyteTrypper - what happened to him?

He was well known in the creatures community (creatures 1,2,3 and docking station) and also in the Chatbot/AI community. He created a few bots. He passed away some time ago. His forum is still up but most of his other websites are gone now.

While Elizabot is getting her beauty sleep,
I brought KnyteTrypper's lost open source
back online here:

http://chatbot.altervista.org/KnyteTrypper/ (http://chatbot.altervista.org/KnyteTrypper/)

He was a member here (http://aidreams.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=50.0#.Vd1kRfixa0w) at AiDreams too...

It just goes to show in how high regard KT was held that years later people are still saving his work :)

If you get stuck with hosting I can offer to host it here on a sub-domain.

Wow!  sub-domain http://elizabot.aidreams.co.uk (http://elizabot.aidreams.co.uk) would be an honour!

In the UK, Canada, Australia and USA, I have outstanding references
(TV, books, universities) in the field of A.I. which are easily checked.

Thank you, so much !!!

I get a hit on that 50% of the time and I can see what I put as a place holder. Looks like sub-domains need to propagate too.
