When I mentioned the drag and drop to change the Haptek characters I meant to drop the htr into
the Haptek command window, otherwise known as HapLogCtrl.txt.

The file needs to reside in the root of your C: drive (C:\)
Then every time a Haptek character appears so will the command window.

Sorry but I thought most Haptek / Hal users were on to this.

If you want the file, it's a simple text file so drag and save then copy to your C:\ drive.

Oh yes Art, it's the Haptek Console. I have that file but I quickly got rid of it, lol, and put it elsewhere. Never needed it.

Dear Gt40, Thank you for your help. First, the download worked!! Also the intelligence of the brain, is unusually moved forward, it am amazing! So just one bores, ' Htr ' it throws but does not open, it does not work. ' Tts ', the player works, but does not open. I have Vista, and perhaps an element, for the compatibility of the player in Vista is missing? Thank you, of me explained all that. Claude.

Hi Claude! Glad you have installed the program.

About Haptek with Vista, always the same problem. You must change the default settings. I don't know anything about Vista but tedathome gave his method on Zabaware (another good site, lol). You have to open the browser settings and unclick "Enable protected mode". It's under the security tab.

Just started to "create" a French Nirosha, lol. For the moment:

- made a copy of Nirosha's folder (named... Nirosha-f)
- deleted all the original AIML files and replaced them by French ones
- chosen the only French female TTS voice I have (Veronique from Lernout & Hauspie)
- and of course, put a new shortcut on the desktop

Wow! Now she can speak French! But still a lot of things to do.

- get rid of some bad written (according to Pandorabots) AIML files
- create a "decent" update.aiml and improve (it's a never-ending story) existing files
- customize the bot properties of DEFAULT.bot

But the main problem is: obviously impossible to change anything in Nirosha.exe. Like the welcome message in English.

Something else to do, maybe later. Hope someone else has time to waste. It's very interesting.

Dear Gt40, Thank you still, for information!! the brain of the brain new has no border, it collects tonnes of subjects!! it is amazing, also, I added a brain french, but with English, it has already a lot of natural expression, I used nirosha, on second life, and many believes has a human being lol lol!!

Just went to the site that posted the video of Nirosha and it displayed a notice that the video has been removed due to a copyright violation at the request of Zabaware.

While I don't think it was due to the program itself as there are lots of chatbots and this chatbot was an AIML / Pandora type of bot but rather for the character / face that the bot displayed. It looked like on of the Zabaware default Haptek female characters. Go figure!

I wanted to see if there were any updates...now I know!

I would tend to think it was the character since there's nothing to keep anyone else
from creating a chatbot, especially one that uses AIML or Pandora type parameters.

I also don't think there is an exclusive agreement between Zaba and Haptek limiting
the use of Haptek characters but rather that one character in question.

It would have been nice if the Niosha program allowed for changing characters and TTS
voices as I could not see a provision to do so.

The program was also misleading when it stated that the bot learns from everything that
the user says to it.  This is simply not the case as the bot does not remember things
from previous conversations unless the information was placed in a script file as it
typical of AIML scripts.

My late friend, Knytetrypper mentioned to me that some were working on an AIML code
that would allow for learning but I have yet to hear any more about it.

I think Nirosha could have been more entertaining if a learning algorythm was in place and
if one could add characters and change TTS voices.

Still not sure about the copyright violation....

Hmm, bit of a let down then but perhaps they will do some more work on it.  It does look like it was at least inspired by UltraHal.  Easy enough for them to get another character though, there's hundreds now thanks to people like Jack (who seems to have disappeared by the way).  I agree though, it was the learning aspect that most interested me, sorry to see that it doesn't seem to do it, oh well, back to the hunt...

Not tried all the AIML files of the folder but most of them were made by A.L.I.C.E. (it's written in the headers) and similar to those of my Pandorabots.

If you edit \bots\DEFAULT.bot you have the properties of the bot. You can see that her President is not Obama but Mahinda Rajapakse.

Wondering if she really learn something by herself: can't find any change in the folders, at the end of the session. Very strange... Must test her "intelligence" again.

About the interface, some interesting infos with regedit, like: Nirosha.htr and NiroshaBack.jpg are in \Program Files\Haptek\player\data\standard\

You can have the Haptek character and the background you want, if you give them the same names above.

No problem with the TTS voice: you can normally change it in the Haptek SAPI Config.

You know what? For me, this bot is GREAT! It's the LOCAL Haptek/Alicebot I'm unable to create. All my bots are connected to the computers of Pandorabots/ALICE, in Oakland, CA. Not a problem, even from Europe (my broadband connection runs fine). Now my Pandorabots belong to everybody in the world and Nirosha is for me, just for me.

Just a negative point: how to use JavaScript here? The HTML page of a Pandorabot allows many interesting experimentations.
