I wonder if in the future, people will have a backup of humanity's scientific discoveries incorporated in their mitochondrial DNA. That way, in the event of a disaster, they wouldn't have to start from scratch, or at least they could gain access to huge stores of knowledge once they reinvented science to a certain point. But just in case, lets first determine that we're not going to be recording over a recording...

I had this idea ages ago, I was thinking about using an electro-spectrometer, to read what molecules are in the presence of the plasma arc, but its a bit like picking up a daisy with a baseball glove on, ends up blowing up the data so much, never gets to read what molecules are there.
