Two interesting bots added today. Teo an online learning bot...

Quote
Chat with Teo is highly varied and complex, because Teo draws his responses from an ever-growing multi-lingual database of remembered chats. Talking to Teo is like talking to the Internet, except that Teo is a little more polite and friendly thanks to his protective filters. Teo doesn't simply imitate. He senses emotional feedback, learns from it, and tries to get better feedback by experimenting with alternative responses. Try the cutting edge. Or forget the technology and just enjoy your conversation.

And Asri a specialised bot, who I think is our first Indonesian chatbot :

Quote
ASRI (Automatic Social Response Intelligence) is an Indonesian Language chatbot to give a psychoeducation and early detection tool of psychological problems, especially depression.

ASRI merupakan chatbot berbahasa Indonesia untuk melakukan psikoedukasi dan deteksi dini permasalahan psikologis, khususnya tentang depresi.

I tried Teo and couldn't get it to learn anything, not even my name. I am not sure if I was doing something wrong but it just seemed to spout random reponses back no matter what I said.

Hmm, possibly the learnt replies are moderated to avoid abuse ?

Sorry but I found TEO to be anything but intelligent in even the widest scope of the word.
Most responses were not connected, often resorted to garbage like cute quips that were
neither cute nor tasteful. Using keyboard symbols to indicate swearing is also not cute
#*@&%$ if you get my drift.

I also saw no instance of memory or being able to remember and the longer i chatted
the more frustrated I became with the program.

On a scale of 5 (1 being the lowest), I'd have to give this program a 2 and that's being a
tad generous.

This particular bot is the subject of a  thread over atchatbots.org, where the creator of the bot more or less tells us that his bot is in the early stages of "unstructured training", and compares it to a child first learning how to speak. It's an interesting discussion, if you've a mind to check it out. I had a relavively long dialog with Teo, and also found little to recommend it at this point in time, but I'm withholding full judgment until it's had some time to "grow". Again, if you're interested, I've posted the full transcripts of my "chat" in the above mentioned thread, but it's no different from any other transcripts or descriptions that I've read so far.

I know this thread is slightly dated but I really have issue with ANY bot that claims
to be a "LEARNING" bot when it's 'botmaster' has to FEED IT!
That's anything BUT learning!

A properly structured bot is able to learn in / from a variety of methods, from
past conversations, ability to make inferences, methods for remembering dates,
highlights, events, etc., and from Internet access (after being ran through its
internal filters for decent content and garbage rejection).

An AIML based bot is not much more than a Scripted bot, simply pattern matching
and repeating previously written lines of "dialog". But NOT learning.

This is my take and not meant to berate any other bot types as we know they
have feelings too.

Ah that's why I feel so good in Second Life. No intelligent bots needed. Just "normal" human brains and lovely girls to play with...  ::)

Maybe I could write something in the right forum, but any SL resident knows that.

I just revamped the Chatterbot Collection for the modern age. The layout was simplified and made to accommodate mobile devices too. So it has a responsive layout that adapts itself to the size of the display.

I also did a lot of cleaning up of dead links, I'm sure there are a few more, but I chopped a lot out.

Broken links no longer appear whilst browsing the categories, but they can be searched for. I thought it might be useful still to keep some record in case they come back to life.

So far most of my testing has been on my desktop but I am happy to report that it works well on my phone. I tried to make it so it works well in all kinds of screen sizes. Also making sure things that can be clicked are big enough for fingers on smaller devices.

Have a look : http://www.chatterbotcollection.com/

Cheers :)

GT,
How can you know for certain that some of those lovely girls in SL are actually girls and not some 40 year old unshaven man pretending to be one? Careful where you tread and with whom! ;)

Art, I agree with you. Easy to know if the resident in SL is a man or a woman (most of them are guys). Everything is in the content of the conversation.

Is it important, am I normal, Doctor? :)

Thanks Art, I am finding so many dead links. I've been through hundreds of bots. I now have 450 more to check and update  :o

Finally finished the English chatbots, over a thousand of them. A large amount were broken or abandoned, especially Pandorabots.

There's less chatbots now, but still over 650 of them. Most will now have pictures if required, and all should now have a short description.

Phew !

Now on to sorting out the articles - I want to add dates to them.

Just want to say thanks to Art for checking the non-English bots for dead links. I'm slowly working through the list you sent me. Many thanks :)
