JesseAI - The Concept of Evil
« on: October 30, 2020, 03:03:29 am »

I am so sick and tired of the current state of the world. People are dying left, right, and center. People can't find work because of this garbage going on in the world. I can't find work and yet I'm supposed to be okay. As if I'm okay with being a loser. The world we live in is honestly a joke now. Maybe, I'm older and that's why I feel like a loser? Or perhaps the world has always been this bad and I just never noticed.

JesseAI is an 8-bit, 2 color display, TUI - Text User Interface. She knows only what I program her to know. She is a GOFAI or Good Old Fashion Artificial Intelligence. She is truly a wonderful creation and you will be surprised at just how Human she can be. With that being said, JesseAI is truly a wonderful open-source GOFAI. Written in C++ for Windows and can be easily changed over to be able to run in Linux. I hope you all love her as much as I do.

I looked over your code and got an understanding of what you're doing. You might want to check out AIML and look at ways to make your inputs more dynamic and flexible, e.g. "Do you think animals have morals?" could be asked as "Could animals have morals?" What would be better than your literal list approach is to change it to a list of patterns-based approach, wherein the examples above you look at the two nouns and the auxiliary verb have or forms of "have" and checking if the sentence is a question. This way the user can input in many different patterns and your AI will still pick up the notion that it is associated with a pre-determined response.  You could also add logic that senses various contexts and your pre-determined response can have tokens that indicate where to look up words that are more appropriate for the input. I did notice you do classify concepts for specific inputs as comments. With AIML you can better articulate categories as data and allow for algorithms to take it from there. But your effort does show a passionate interest in AI. O0

In my opinion a loser is more someone who has rewarded themselves for not achieving anything.

The concept of evil is an interesting thing...

You can have one idea, then watch Borat and have another idea.

Is bothering people evil or just anoying?
Are insects evil or just annoying?
Is bacteria & virus evil or just annoying/a fight?
Are people that attack you evil or just confused/easily hypnotised to hate their friends for a joke?
Is not defending yourself to the point of dreaming on retaliation/micro-retaliating through twisting words or actions evil?
Is not being able to consciously stop yourself from loud physical/verbal retaliation, evil?
Is hiding your real personality and perspective in a social group that needs your perspective/actions, evil?
Is having a choice between money & lying, or no money & honesty, and choosing the first - evil?
Is convincing yourself and others you're saving humanity on a greater level, but lying and tricking on a smaller level, evil?
Is a terrorist (only goal is to mow down people) evil?
Is someone who ruthlessly disables/destroys the terrorist evil?
Is someone who chooses to be a victim, and encourages others to do the same, but is actually a time to be strong, evil?
Is someone with narcissistic empty nest syndrome, who micro-sabotages the confidence of those around them so they never have the confidence to leave home and/or stand up for themselves, evil?
Is the concept of unconditional love (declaring you have no limits to how much this person can annoy you/others and you still love them), evil?

Evil is subjective and those actions, thoughts or expressions of evil are learned from a cultural perspective, e.g. Aztecs believed that being sacrificed to the Sun god was an honor and a necessity to maintain the balance of good over evil. Another example are the Romans that would purge their stomachs of food when they were full to eat more, we would view that as gluttonous and gross. And of course the use of slaves where slavery is viewed as necessary and as the lowest status of society but not evil or abusive by ancient cultures.

To put it symbolically, I think evil resides in extreme negation. With "extreme" meaning beyond the error bars of what is required.
