Need some feedback on an AI game
« on: April 13, 2014, 02:25:30 pm »
Hello,
I recently put together a game featuring AI.  I wanted to make a game where it was easy to play with and learn about AI.  I tried to make it fairly open but also simple.  I hope I struck a good balance.  Anyway, I would like some feedback from some of you folks that might be interested.  You can do quite a bit in the demo.  If you would like to take a look and tell me what you think that would be fantastic!
There is a link to the demo at the bottom of the page www.TheDamped.com.

I tried to make it interesting to people interested in AI but still accessible to those not really familiar with it.  Hopefully it can be a good learning tool.

Currently should work on Windows XP - 8
Also tested on Linux with Wine
Not sure about Wine on Mac

Please let me know about any technical problems, anything that isn't intuitive, or if you like or not, really any information at all helps a lot!  I'll try to keep a close eye on this thread but I'm in a funny timezone.

Thanks so much,
Adam

Are we able to play it online? I don't think you'll get many people installing a .exe file from someone who has made 1 post on a forum.

Hey squarebear,
Thanks for the reply!  Unfortunately, no, it's not flash or html5 or something that could be played in a browser.  I understand your concern.

There's not a huge amount I can do to mitigate your wariness, outside of saying "just trust me".  But I can say, check out my website, I've spent a good long while on it.  It would be a pretty elaborate mockup for some malware distribution.  Also, the file will pass any scans, there is no third party software outside of a few common dlls. In addition, the software never needs to connect to the internet.

Originally I was just distributing with a .zip instead of an inno-installer but I had people that couldn't figure that out.  If you would be more comfortable with it. I could make a zip version available.

I went ahead and uploaded a zipped version so at least no worries about the installer : http://www.thedamped.com/files/Brittle%20Bots.zip
