Good news!

Thanks to Art's testing, comments and remarks, we have been able to make Smart-i compatible to Windows 7.  :)

Hi there!

I enjoy this new forum design! And I immediately try the new youtube video insertion tool :)

I have released the version 1.2.0 of Smart-i together with a small demo video.
Here it is:

I hope Datahopa will look at this video, because he was initially wondering about the interest of such software. ;)

Best greetings to all of you.

I watched the video and then downloaded the latest version. Thanks  :)

Trying to change the voice to my Cepstral quality voice I got this prompt?

Hello Datahopa,

I guess you have clicked on the button "Edit vocal commands" (special feature which is only available in an activated version) instead of clicking on the "Ok" button!

Let me know if your problem is not solved by clicking on the ok button!

Thanks for answering me Smarti.

I see, I must have clicked on the wrong thing then, I now have my Cepstral voice working in it. (you might be happy to know)

Just to clarify then, we need to purchase the software to do all the things you show in the video?

No!
But of course, for things related to home automation in the video, you basically need an adhoco system first.

For the rest you can do everything that the Software is currently capable of, these are:

The limitation compared to the version shown on the video is the possibility to modify the vocal commands to what suits you best: For instance instead of the default vocal command "Calendar" in the video I have replaced it by "Check my calendar".
For people who are willing to support the development of Smart-i by activating the software (  :D ), they get this cool but not indispensable feature "edit vocal commands"
For others ( :'( ), they simply have to live with the default command phrases proposed. ;)

Thanks for having confirmed me that custom voices are working with Smart-i (Art already tested it some weeks ago).

Just a quick question as I am a bit busy at the moment to try it out.  Can the music files be stored anywhere ?  So I can pull them from any folder or even on a remote machine in my network ?

And could I say something like 'Search YouTube for Tom Waits' ?

Impressive video you made 8)

Rog,

As far as I can tell, your music files can reside anywhere you wish. You simply need to inform Smarti
where they can be found. Done through the Configuration section under Music.

You can have a really nice chat (verbal or typed - I like typed better as I think it is somewhat faster).

Yes, the TTS voices are also easily changed via scroll down selection.

Web cams (if available) are also located and activated for motion / movement.

The Interenet section provides a variety of RSS News and Weather feeds but I did not see a provision
at this moment for an Internet wide search similar to Google or Bing search windows.

I do like the simplicity of the program and would personally like to see a couple additional bells / whistles
once things get ironed out but I think the program shows a lot of promise!

Art, thanks for having answered and described the Smarti's features!

Freddy, as Art explained you can pull the music from anywhere on your pc and even from a network share. And concerning a search on youtube (or a wide search as Art mentionned), it is currently not implemented.

I don't know what would be the most interesting search feature to implement?
The video search, the image search or a generic google search?
In fact, concerning the latter, the chatbot already allows to get answers to numerous questions in areas such as Geography, Politics, Arts, Science and History.

Thanks for your comment on my video :)

I didn’t comment on the video, and I should have, its well done and I like it  O0

Thanks for pointing that out, no I didnt know.

Great thanks.   I just got myself a NAS drive and will be using that for music storage.  Still figuring it all out at the moment, but I will give it a go at the weekend hopefully.

As for search features, for some ideas; my own regulars are.... Google for anything, Google image search, YouTube for music and I use http://dictionary.reference.com/ (http://dictionary.reference.com/) a fair bit too.

I think I would most like to see a YouTube feature. And I bet that would prove popular with a lot of people.  :)

I just downloaded it and gave it a quick try, I've got it on a quad computer with Win 7.  I used it with Dragon voice rec.  Big problem for me, when I put a question mark at the end of a sentence the mouse jumps to the configuration ? at the top of the screen.
A big thing for me is do they learn, I tried my dog's name is Teddy, I'd say she did not learn the name.
Over all I'd say it is pretty good,  lots of nice features.  I have to admire you for giving this a try.

Hi Carl,

Thanks for trying Smarti!

I fact I have never thought that it can be driven using an other voice control (such as Dragon Voice recognition) instead of the "built-in" voice control. It has thus not been optimized at all for this usage, and the problem you encounter is likely to appear in several different conditions. Thanks for this input anyway.

Concerning the chat feature:
I have to confess that I have implemented in a "quick and dirty" way. My goal was to make a bot that would give a different impression compared to usual bots, using at maximum online information available. So I have focused on this online stuff and not on the standard chat feature itself.

The current version is thus not so smart and will not be able to learn your dog's name... Sorry for the unconvenience ;)
