Post by: GT40 on July 09, 2007, 07:54:29 pm

The Beatles are still alive! (http://gt40.chez-alice.fr/Haptek/beatles0.html)

Four separate windows. Not very satisfied. :(

Many thanks to jackgephart and to NIGE, for their wonderful skins and hair.

A great thanks to all of you. Alady, your John Lennon gave me the idea. ;)

With my "method" (a frame containing a Haptek window for every character), you can have the number you want.

THE BIG PROBLEM is that, when you open the html page, the Haptek players don't start together at the same time, and never in the same order (you can see that on your screen). It's totally hazardous. >:(

And with TTS voices, if character's sentences overlaps themselves, one of the two characters looses his voice. With .ogg files, the next file waits for the end of the current one before starting. But the movements shift stays.

That's why, to avoid to loose voices sync, I put a so long delay between two sentences. And that's why the dialogue doesn't run smoothly.

I'm quite sure a true programmer could create a JavaScript (or VBScript) routine, which "launchs" sentences between different frames. I mean, after the end of a sentence of a frame, the routine starts the next one of another frame.

When I'll be older, I'll be a programmer... :)

Strange that one waits til a sentence is finished and doesn't just cut in.

Reminds me of a year ago, I would drop the same printed conversation on three haptar windows and the characters would have the conversation. When one finished, another would do the next sentence and this would continue until the end of the printed conversation.  I wouldn't know which of the other two would be next.  Kind of cool to watch.  But only worked on that old laptop, not on my main computer, which made it stranger yet.   ???

Duskrider, I tried to make The Beatles sing the same (ogg) song together. I didn't believe in that but, in my 4 scripts, they started (in theory) at the same time.  ???

The result was they sang... 4 times the same song, every Beatle one after the other. ;D ;D ;D
