Realistic Humanoid Robots: A 2006 NYC Trade Show Video
« on: January 04, 2020, 01:52:54 am »
realism was realistic, then Robot manufacturers backed down not long after... the recent Robot Erica Wiki Talk video is AWESOME! Robot manufacturers can manufacture 100% Autonomous Humanoids, with ease! Look at the old, improved Honda Asimo, and Boston Dynamics Atlas improvements on youtube. Robot Sophia walks, so do others, with no ceiling tether! Boston Dynamics, and other similar, yet more sophisticated Autonomous Robots are already in Military use, more deadly than the Terminator, Elysium, and other robots! As you see in the youtube demos of Atlas, Atlas can run indoors, outdoors, do backflips... there are Military Robot demo videos of Autonomous Robots, Humanoids, driving Military Vehicles, shooting automatic handguns... Air Servo systems in hard foam bodies for realistic, fully Autonomous, fully coordinated, the best, as you see from the 2006 fembot video above, and from Sophia. Female Robot Mark 1 is an Awesome robot, and even more awesome if she walks someday!

Not a real fan of pneumatic internals... smooth operation but compressors, condensation, possible noise...no thanks. Besides, that video was 14 years ago. Imagine the advances, if we could actually see some of these more humanoid ones instead of a spot mini or some "adult robotic" creation.
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

I do not like the unrealistic robots, either, except for the miniature "robots" with tractor trains, 3-4+ cameras, armed with miniature glocks for military use... robot "spot" is unsightly... I do not like the deliberate lack of aesthetics... as for "noise"... pneumatics are air, and very quiet, in fact, almost always 100% no noise. Hard foam, flexible shells as skins with minimal alloy internal rods for "skeletal" support combined provide full movement and mobility... the internal toy erector set designs are overcomplicated and unnecessarily limit robot mobility... functionality. As for the 2006 Actroid in the video above, she is impressive by today's standards... her many, many micro facial expressions, not merely her facial expressions, look and change as if naturally... I do agree we are further along these days... I would love to see fully autonomous walking models like robot Sophia as beautiful as Ms. Actroid, yet even more beautiful, like Mark 1 without the visible line of her neck, and others... with Wiki Talk like robot Erica... and beyond Wiki Talk... with functionality and mobility of Honda Asimo, and Boston Dynamics Atlas!

Provided that you are not meaning some LEGO toy,
100% no noise? What powers the compressor to which you are referring, propane, gas or electric?
Compressor runs on a power source > compresses the air > compressed air is stored in a reservoir, a valve is employed to control the flow of air through a tube or air line and an effector at or near the end, performs an action.

Pneumatics are also prone to moisture in the form of condensation.

Not bashing your choice. Merely pointing out the obvious for those not familiar with pneumatics and compressors.

In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

Don' forget to use GPT-2 voice response. and convert it to the prettiest woman's voice using a voice stealing algorithm as shown on Two Minute Papers recently. GPT-2 is creepy good, will trick your mom!!

..."LockSuit", and others, as you are aware from products on the market for many, many years, pneumatic mechanical devices, pumps, for example, are often "noiseless" because of the very small amounts of air used, and do not blast air like an air pump hissing while being positioned onto- and from your vehicle tire tube valve, and not even like the hissing while inflating or deflating a Helium balloon, and not like the Helium gushing into a hot air balloon... there are, in fact  "noiseless" air pumps for Zero Gravity simulation and similar amusement park air lift "rides", and for very big indoor/outdoor safety air mattresses, and, mechanical designs for mechanical functions of robots with minimal motor control of the internal "skeletal system" is already a feature of robots, for example, robot arms designed to move and maintain position and function, the arm, hand, and fingers move, are mechanically leveraged/pushed to move, into position and function, such as a Military Robot firing a weapon: the arm mechanically swings down and locks into position, mechanically leveraging the forearm which mechanically leverages and swings up for mechanical leveraging of the hand and fingers for mechanical squeezing of triggers of weapons... you can even look up "noiseless" air/pneumatic pumps and devices. Air of the Actroid Robot, above, during her presentation is not audible.

Pneumatics are also prone to moisture in the form of condensation.

If you use an enclosed volume system,  you don't get condensation cause it runs off its internal air only.  ;)

That's a good point, quick & quiet muscles seem to be missing from robotics. Ideas?

Its more natural if it moves without a sound,  theres no animal that makes a noise unless its communicating on purpose.

Just like a compressor on the Hutter Prize page, smaller faster things are much more powerful. Especially data tech, just look at phones!y word that they profit on. I'm mobile. Hip.
