This would have a whole lot of uses in addition to making robots more powerful on a budget.
The OAK devices use their cameras and onboard AI chip to perform a number of computer vision tasks, like identifying objects, counting people, finding distances to and between things in frame and more. This info is sent out in polished, ready-to-use form.

Because computer vision is like computer graphics backwards (Geoff. Hinton has said that before.) it goes with video cards really well.

It would be perfect if the cameras were pluggable. As it stands now you have to incorporate the entire unit as one piece, might be good for crude robots but not for applications that require camera placement in different ways.

Found this on eBay (https://www.ebay.com/i/353116134467?rt=nc&_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20160908110712%26meid%3D77026550646b450d8939dcb6f4f62e90%26pid%3D100677%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D30%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D402308588906%26itm%3D353116134467%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2386202%26algv%3DDefaultOrganic%26brand%3DUnbranded) It's small enough to fit into an eyeball and can send the info to my server. Now I just need those 3D print plans for an animatronic head and I'm good to go.
