Agility Robotics have a better performing unit now
« on: December 13, 2019, 05:43:16 pm »
These guys have been around a while now,  They are a lot into "passive dynamics" and it made him (the guy who founded the "company") get the idea that putting shock absorbers on walking creatures makes them leap and bound instead of just trot along in a slower way.   If we had shockies for legs, wed be going a lot faster down the foot-path,  probably wouldn't need a car in that land.   :2funny:

I tried to find the video of the CEO founder dude, but its lost to me,   this robot seems to be just making it to standing and moving on legs,  and it looks kinda interesting to me, even tho it probably has a lot of work in front of it still,   but he definitely is following an avoidance mechanism which keeps him from getting in the persons way,  and its cool how its not just wheels,  and with wheels, probably wouldn't be an interesting video and just making them walk their way through it is a bit more of an impressive task I guess, even tho the goal is exactly the same.

Neat, but not really impressive until they take the ceiling tether off.  It might be getting some balance assistance right now ...

The other interesting thing is that the heel joint is high up the leg and it stands on its toes, bird-style.  I wonder if this confers a distinct advantage, or is just the way they decided to do it.

Im guessing maybe he just wanted something distinctive about the design, and they are something to do with his passive dynamics thing, they are a little unusual as far as I know my bots.  there is a spectrum of them you can discover and employ.
