Robots through the ages...
« on: March 02, 2015, 01:24:44 am »
I was going to list them all but soon realized that the listing would exceed our sites 20,000 word posting limit.
With that, I'm simply going to point to a Wikipedia link that lists them all for your own review:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fictional_computers

In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

Interesting list... I have never thought about the first ideas about computers - I assumed it wasn't going to be an interesting story as I had known the real-life history of electronics well enough. But that 1726's 'The Engine' truly amazed me in the sense of creativity. J. Swift imagined something that would not be reality until centuries after his death. This is the greatest achievement one philosopher, author or inventor could ever list in his biography.

I wish we all would think about the future, much like these people did in the past. We would live in a much better world. Maybe the problem is that technology today is ugly (in functional sense) and often causes stress, reminds us of nothing natural and is easily associated with industry and pollution which in turn creates a picture of a dark, heavily-industrialized future in our minds.

If I did not believe in change, I would also have that picture block my view (or desire to view) the future.
Software and Hardware developer, and everything in between.
