Free Components
« on: May 04, 2010, 06:16:25 am »
Hi All

I have recently updated my blog http://virtual-guide-systems.blogspot.com/ and I am offering a number of components I used in my PhD project for free. I will propably offe rthe Haptek character for free in the near future but nothing is certain yet. If you want any of the components please email me. All I require of you is to mention my name if you use them in any of your projects.

Giving stuff away for free is cool in my book.

But having to e-mail you to get it is going to drastically reduce the amount of people using and seeing your great work. Its seems to me your not sure if you want to share it or not.

Do you want to freely distribute your work to anyone and everyone or just a few who decided to e-mail you.

Just an observation.  Nice blog BTW.

I was in between giving everything away for free or doing it via email. I decided the second as it is not too much trouble to sent an email if you want a component. That way I will also keep a record of what goes to who. There are components in my list that a company would ask you a few thousand dollars (e.g., the face detection). I just need to make sure that nobody will sell my work without any authorization.

You are welcome to use the downloads area here if you want to - it will record the amount of downloads automatically and you can add terms and conditions to the description.  And you could also zip up the T&Cs with your package.  I think you will get quite a lot of people interested in these items.

Nice blog too, would you like to send me a banner and I can add you to the links pool ?
