With their new Content Management Service, it's somewhat difficult to determine how they store new data and such. I took a model that I had created in  DS3, and played around with the new surface editing interface (a new feature that I dearly love, BTW), saving the new material preset, and then went looking for the file on my box, with no success, yet I found it easily in the content library. I'm still of two minds about having the CM service running on my computer all the time, when I won't be using DS4 all the time. When I open Task Manager now, I already have nearly 60 processes running full time, so I'm reluctant to want another couple of processes to be added to that list 24/7. What I may end up doing is modifying the shortcut to DS4 to run a batch file that starts the Content Management Service just prior to DS4 starting up, and then manually shutting down the service when I close DS. That's just about the only fly in the ointment, though.

Ok thanks, I will investigate some more. I'm not sure about the CM thing either, but I let it go ahead, I don't have too many processes I think.

I think I might finally sign up for the Platinum club this month, I can see myself getting addicted again. Today though it was just too hot here to concentrate for very long, I'll examine it some more tonight.

I was talking to Liz yesterday, and she also said that the London area was unbearably hot. I feel bad about that, because though the temp is probably higher here, there's less humidity, and a nice breeze. I've done the whole "wet heat" thing while I was living in Tennessee, and you can keep it, thanks. :P

Program O Liz ?

The breeze has gone here now, so it's really muggy.  Anyway must stop going off topic ! It's the heat  ;D

I think I will try a few renders until I melt or the PC does...

Yup. As far as I know, she's the only Liz we would both share an acquaintance with. :P And don't worry about the weather, since it changes almost a quickly as a politician changes his/her views., and more quickly than some folks change their clothes. :)

It's cooler here today and there is thunder going around, it looks very atmospheric at the moment, like something big is going to happen.

Anyway, I am finding I like this new content organiser thing.  I thought I would drop this link in :

DS4 Tutorial: Adding meta-data to existing files

Took a little figuring out, but it's pretty useful and saves a lot of digging around for files. Say you want to see shirts that can be worn by Victoria 4 - now you can just click on the V4 model in the scene and it will show you stuff she can wear. Quite handy, but it will take some setting up as so far it looks like they only have added the meta data for the new models. So basically don't expect it to work with all your old models, you will need to do some work for that to happen.

Other than that I was doing a few test renders. Was happy to find that my DS3 scenes still loaded once I had added my old runtimes in.

Looking good.  8)
