isometric 2d to true 3d cad program
« on: February 23, 2023, 12:43:08 pm »
Its actually really good, mostly because of how fast it is to get the model out.    Modelling from one perspective with a drawing tool saves alot of time and hassles.

You actually can rotate the camera, and its good to take a peak to see if the 3d conversion is right for the line, if it isnt it only takes a few adjustments to get it corrected if your eye is a bit off,     which mine definitely is,   but this model is only the first thing it made so itll be alot better than this when I get it done.

Heres an example of a wire frame just quickly scrawled in 2d,  with a plane detector to turn it 3d, it can be fully automatic but my program is half manual at the moment.

I did a bit more work on it,   and heres a more finished product with the picture colours splatted onto it. (near side and farside.)

This has a huge future in front of it, if your aiming at lone game creators that do their own art and need to get the workload done as quick and painless as they can, would be a huge time saver doing a game like this.

Im going to work on it tomorrow (I know I always promise this sorry...  :-[)   And Ill show a demo of me actually doing the modelling,    I click a couple of times on the screen, and then i draw a plane,  then i recorrect it taking little peeks to the side to see if its right.

Im pretty sure ill do it this time,   ill put the other things im doing on hold. (Thats what happens to me, Im jumping  around from different projects always doing the one I feel like,  and u know no-one ever feels like doing the one they should be doing.)

Should be cool making that video,    but having a break tonight, doing nothing.   the other projects im doing is  electronics  (Trying to make my computer,  its going well btw.) and a game which im plugging this graphics into,  so  ill probably be getting it done.

But....   doing nothing now.  :)

<UPDATE> i just got some work then, i might finish it tonight, bit more to go.<UPDATE>
<update 2>  just finished eraser and reupdated all the drawing tools,   so ill get the new neater rings going,   only have to update the interpolator thing,  not much to go.<update 2>

here i fixed it all up again.    Got some much better lines now,   I never noticed how off my pictures were!
But thats understandable,  moving from perspective to orthogonal throws your eye off alot.
So the main fix was to give myself back editing/take backs,  before u had to get the ringlines right first time so it was pretty dodgy what u got.    This one does look alot better,  before it was very warped, this actually doesnt look that bad compared.

So maybe tomorrow, ill add the reinterpolator to it,  and itll give you the finished project with the painter on it.

<actually give me a couple of hours, and ill do it soon.>

I have it prepared what to do next.

But I decided to start drawing a new one,  and I have this interesting technique of texturing the model with 2 very similar but disturbingly enough different pictures that its very hard to imagine without doing a little primitive work first to get your sides in your head right as you draw it.

I actually didnt do that,  and I got it completely wrong! and I was lost completely, I usually can do the first picture, but the second I can never imagine it in my mind.

This illustration has a cross section in it, and it turns into a 4 legged spider, with a mirrored leg down the middle.
notice the cross section on the near and far view has a vector in the exactly the same direction just it goes inward instead of outward on the zed.

I texture it with 2 pictures (Just ordinary illustrations. but orthogonal and have to be as correct as you can get them.)   They both have the same sillouette!

Its very wierd to imagine that back side from drawing the front side first, but I bet with practice it becomes second nature to a guy, but Im not there yet myself.
So little bit of code to go, and hopefully itll come up a real winner!

So by overlaying the front over the back, you can see that the backside makes a shell with the front side, because its a cross section.
You can see that there is 45 chop, that im going to mirror out to get both sides of the 4 legs! :)

<updatey>  nearly there  it just wants to be a total slut but its going to turn over soon. </updatey>
