Title: Unreal Engine 4
Post by: Freddy on November 19, 2015, 10:35:28 pm

Quite a significant project and now it's free. I just don't have enough time to play with all these toys, but perhaps I can come back to it.

Along with Unity this should certainly be on your list of possible graphics engines to use in virtual worlds and some environments for interactive characters.

I did have a quick look to see if Daz characters can be imported and it seems the answer is yes. The route would be via .FBX export from Daz and then into UE4. Whether it imports morphs the way Unity does so handily is another question and probably worth pursuing if you have the time.

Although the main product is free, the way they make money is by selling assets and plugins, much like the way Unity do from my experience. Some of the prices seem very reasonable to me for the high quality you get. If you're making a commercial product then they take a small cut. (

God it looks tempting ! (

Very cool indeed!! Looks like Daz/Poser/WorldBuilder/Bryce3D all rolled into one!

I hear some Hal die-hard fans texting Robert for a Why not?  O0

What i really like in this engine is the possibility of using blueprints instead of coding.

UE4 (and Unity) have a big, good, community too (lots of teams of programmers to hire).
