Very nice renders too, Freddy. Thank the gods you don't have an almost naked girl with large breasts holding a sword as if she's the baddest female on the planet!!  I have probably seen (no lie) several hundred of those types of images during my foray into the world of 3D, character creation and character animation many years ago!!

I just know there's some new material out there somewhere!!

Thanks and nice work!!

Thanks :)  I do have swords though lol

I'm quite hooked on this at the moment.  I decided to try making my own clothes, well the texture part anyway.  Also spent a heck of a lot of time messing with lights and render settings.  I worked on this all day today lol - it took me ages as I also had to learn how to use Photoshop and re-learn Blender too.  Not to mention the material room in Poser.  Wow what a lot of work this is !

This is what I came up with.  Kind of Elf-like or maybe a Ranger, which is what I named the outfit.  I have my eye on some bows and arrows...a welcome change from swords ;)  Rendered by Daz Studio 3.

Freddy, I don't know anything about all this, but the "result" is beautiful. 8)

@Datahopa, Thanks :)  Yes she makes a great model, I hope I am not turning into Pygmalion !

It took me a while to do because I couldn't find a decent tutorial so most of it I worked out myself, I am not sure if my methods are the best but they worked.  Photoshop took me a lot of time to work out too - I always used to use my old copy of  PhotoImpact, but I forced myself into using PS because I really need to learn it.

@Mav, Thanks matey :)

@GT40, Thank you too, I am very happy to have achieved beauty in your eyes :) It takes a while to figure out but the result was satisfying for me.  A nice thing is that most of this you can do for free.  The only thing I paid for was Photoshop Elements 7 and that wasn't too much really.

The background was one I found at Deviant Art.  And the leather textures I found at another site, I just manipulated them until they were 'right'.

Now you know Photoshop, the world is your play ground so to speak, I use it and Fireworks for just about all my graphics needs, ps has to be the most popular though its used by nearly everyone I talk to.

Datahopa, yes PS is pretty much the main one I see too and nearly all the tutorials are for it too, so it made sense to join them rather than try to beat them.  I'm finding I am liking PS a lot actually the more I use it.  Whilst Photo Impact is a nice program, support for it is virtually non-existent, so I think I will finally lay that one to rest.

Art, I believe you; I never though you were Deviant ! ;)  Thanks for the kind comments, actually that close up one is probably my most favourite render that I have done, looks really nice in full size even though I say so myself.

I tried a few poses with swords but wasn't really satisfied.  I did manage to pick up another package at Daz in their recent sale, which includes bows and arrows.  I think she looks more like an archer than a warrior, so I may work on that over the weekend.

And yes it's a nice hobby I agree, very easy to spend hours on it lol

One main thing in PShop or PSP is to learn and use LAYERS or LEVELS.

There is Much one can do with using multiple layers.

I recall a site that had some fantastic tutorials and many used layers for
various aging and realism of objects. It was called: DV Garage and it should
be www.dvgarage.com.

Luck with that.

Thanks Art, I had a look at that site, but they seem to charge and I am a skin flint at the moment.

I have found some tutorials for layers though.  From what I gather there are limitations in Elements with regard to layers, but there are ways to get around that by (mis)using some of the other features.  In the end I was able to work with layers fine.  I used to use layers a lot with Photo Impact so it wasn't unfamiliar to me.

My main use of layers has been to isolate parts of the UV map so different parts can have different textures.  That worked quite well.  I can see what you mean about ageing things though I haven't tried it yet.  I did use layers to add that tattoo type motif to the shirt and blended it in using some of the layer settings, quite cool I thought.

Still learning as always...

P.S. Art have you got any of your old renders to show us ?  No pressure !

Sorry to hear that Freddy (DV Garage). They used to have a free section with videos showing various tutorials, demos and how-to's done by Alex.  I'm sure the money became the issue as it does with a lot of things.

My renders? Wow...I haven't dabbled with the graphics end for years but I might be able to locate a couple on an external drive. I did (back then) do a lot of work trying to learn from 3D programs. One of my favorites was Rhino3D. I also dabbled with Bryce and some Poser but that's another topic.
