Thanks :)  The poses were made by the creator of the clothes so I don't claim credit for that.  I do claim some credit for spending far too much time messing around with lights, render settings and shadows though and possibly camera angles !  It becomes obsessive for me I find lol

I will have a go at texturing this new set of clothes though, then maybe I will feel like I put in a fair amount of my own work.

Freddy,
I looked at your pictures, excellent.  I could not have done that well,  but  , Looks like a created character, can't really express this properly, best I can say is it lacks realism somehow someway.

Thanks Carl.  I know what you mean about realism, I think Datahopa said something similar when he mentioned they look a little cartoon like.  I know you can get almost perfect photo realistic renders these days but that kind of thing is  going to be expensive - like they used in Avatar etc. - so it's not for the hobbiest just yet, but they are always improving.

The other side of the coin is that images can be too real or hyper real when everything looks so clean and sharp that it doesn't look natural any more.

Maybe I could try out some blurring and add some noise... I am not sure if my aim is to actually be photo-realistic but I will give it a go.

I looked at the pics a few more times, wish I could explain what it is, feel that would be more constructive. I don't object to fantasy, in fact I like it.  Saw one of a girl in window, elfish, cartoonish, but she bent and moved to follow the mouse.  Thought she was great, would have loved to get her in Haptek at the time.
I use Paint Shop pro 9, never got into layering.

Freddy, if you switch  "Doggy" for  "Elf",  I'll switch "Bouncer" for "Sandee".   ::)

Freddy,

I think Dusky is referring to the avatars (your Doggie should be swapped for your Elf render
and in return Dusky wound swap that leaf bouncing fellow for a nice image of Sandee).

Then again...this is just me thinking...which I should really try to avoid whenever I can...
tends to get me in trouble...;)

I finally got around to reading this thread, and I have to say that all of the images I saw were simply amazing. I don't use Daz Studio to render, because I do so much of my scene arrangement and object creation in Bryce. Perhaps I should try switching for a render or two, because no matter how I tweak the render settings, lighting, etc. I can't even come close to anything even faintly resembling photo-realism. Unless I'm creating a landscape in Terragen. THEN I get some images that are so realistic, you would swear a camera was used. It's been a long while since I used Terragen, though. :(

Yes Daz Studio has been a firm favourite of mine for a long time now, although recently I have been experimenting with Poser 8 (there's also a thread on that here too) and I think it has the edge in some respects.  I still have much to learn though.

Terragen is nice, I did play with that a little.  I was meaning at some point to export the terrains and use them in Poser - does it export them to OBJ ?

The version of Terragen that I use won't do that directly, but it can output the terrain as a bitmap image style height map, which I can then use in Bryce to create a terrain object, which can then be exported as an OBJ model. It's a rather circuitous route, but it gets the job done. I understand that Terragen 2 is much more advanced, and has more features, but I don't have that version, so I couldn't tell you whether it can or not.

Thanks for the info...well I have a copy of Bryce 5.5 hanging around for when I get the time to use it.  I will have to try this workaround out.  I may have to pick your brains in the future on this one.

I was playing with Terragen yesterday, and I noticed that the terrains can be exported as Lightwave (.LWO) objects. What's more, Bryce can import LWO objects, as well. This may be preferable to what I had outlined earlier. In fact, I used that method to create the terrain in the image below:

It seems to work out well, and it's far less work than exporting a RAW bitmap, and then applying it to a lattice or terrain. :)

BTW, Freddy, this is the OBJ model I want to be able to add bones to, so I can pose it in DS. I think that, if I can get Morti to a point where I could pose him, I could perhaps make him a bit more interesting. :)
