Title: Wallpapers / Backgrounds
Post by: Art on January 29, 2011, 05:17:36 pm
Freddy and I thought it might be a nice idea for members to post some of their "favorite" A.I. or fantasy related wallpapers or backgrounds that you use or have used on your computer.
Please keep in mind that not everyone was the same size monitor so try to be creative. Say 800 X 600 minimum or at least decent looking if / when stretched to fit 1024 X 786 or larger. Well, just wing it for a while until we get feedback. Either way let's stir some creative juices and post some cool images! They don't have to be your own although personal creations are of course welcome!!

Here are a few of mine:

I like the top one best…
No wait, the bottom one…
Hmmmm, ok it’s the middle one for me too, you knew I was gona say that didn’t you  ;)

They are all excellent Art O0

I’ve always liked this one, a screenshot from the game Sherlock Holmes Nemesis, warm colours, and has depth.

The library at the British Museum.

@Datahopa, I like this one but at first glance, it reminded me of prisons one sees on TV with multiple levels and cells. I guess a library is sort of a "prison for books."

My grand daughter told me that books are like secret agents: always under cover. Ugh! Oh well...kids!

Here's an interesting one with its own feeling of depth. I think it also captures that quiet erieness that comes just before or shortly after a storm. Beautiful image IMO.

It's a 700k image but I didn't want to degrade it so the size should work nicely for a wall paper.

Again, very nice Art.

If you don’t mind I think they would go great in the wallpaper section over at Datahopa, what do you think?
if you don’t want to that’s fine.

Is that photo of the lake a real photo or some kind of render.  Very nice whatever,..

I honestly don't know what it is whether a CGI rendering (which would certainly be one of the best I ever saw) or a photo. I dare say that I think it NOT to be a painting for that would truly be incredulous!

Maybe there's a program out there like Midomi (it names the title and artist of a song you sing) that could name the origin and artist of a picture, photo or image once shown to a web cam. I'll bet such a program already exists!

@ Datahopa,
By all means, feel free to transfer any of mine you wish as I can't speak for others. ;)

I've been kept somewhat busy, of late (family issues, working on the 2011 Christmas Village, etc), but I've had a little time to create some more desktop images for my system. Here's the current one:

@Datahopa - Very nice. Unfortunately, I envision the time when we won't have or use physical books any longer. They will all pretty much have become relics, archives of times past. The digital versions will consume them like the cd's did to tapes.

@ GeekCaveCreations - Just leave the 2010 village up then after the New Year tell everyone that you've gotten a head start on the 2011 one! Cool!! ;) - Nice images. btw, I especially like the tearful eye...beautifully done!

Thanks, Art, but the only credit I can take for that image is in finding it. I agree, though, that it's wonderfully done. :)
As to the Christmas Village, with a major re-design for both the main table, and a complete re-creation of the mountain and waterfall for the 2011 season, and knowing how my brain works, if I don't get started now I'll forget about it till October or November, and it won't get completed in time. The new water system will have a semi-closed system, with a creek that drains the pond into a built-in reservoir that holds about 15 gallons of water, with the entire system holding nearly 25 gallons, altogether. No more clogged drain hoses that cause the waterfall to overflow the table, and force the flow to a few drops down the face of the mountain!  O0 I've got the table nearly completed, and will be starting on the mountain as soon as the weather is warm enough to be able to work with the fiberglass (which can be in the next day or so, or not till June, the way the weather around here acts. :P ).

Anyway, I've got about 20 or so new desktop images that I've made for the new monitor setup, so holler if you would like to see more. :) I've found, unfortunately, that the program I wrote to give XP the functionality that Vista/7 does of switching desktop images has a bug in it where it can't handle a triple monitor setup, so I'm having to re-write it. Fun fun.  :tickedoff:
