About my jukebox, and despite the upgrade to v2.0, I must say nobody but me is able to watch it nowadays. When reading the posts, I can't imagine that someone here is still using XP, Internet Explorer and... a mono-core CPU! It would be a real shame. :o

@GT40,

Why? My XP isn't broken and still works quite well.
Dual core thank you...
CRT monitor...because IT still works and besides...it's much sharper than a LCD flatscreen.
Primarily using Firefox but also have and can use, Chrome, IE7 (not 8 or whatever number they're
now up to!), Opera, Safari and NetScape.

Maybe I'll get there but I'm in no particular hurry at the moment.... Some things in life simply carry
more importance than others and that is in the eye of the beholder!  ;)

Thanks a lot, Art, for your peaceful post (Dusky seems surprised). You're right (IMHO). My computer is old but works fine and I'm happy with it. And like you, I have no money to waste in a new one. I really don't need it (but a better graphics card would be fun, lol).

Please Fulltime Jobs and Golden Gates, no comment. Thanks in advance. :)

I have 3 laptops. One is a 300MHz Intel P3 I think IBM  ThinkPad 600 running Windows 2000 SP4 and has 256MB RAM. One is a 1.3GHz Intel P4 (I think) IBM ThinkPad T23 running Windows XP SP3 and has 1GB RAM. And my "main" computer I use most is an IBM/Lenovo T61 which has an Intel Duo-Core (both running at 1.8GHz) running Windows Vista SP2 and has 2GB RAM. So yes and no. Yes I have computers that are not duo-core and no I don't use them when I'm on this forum, usually. :)

Hello TikaC, I was just kidding a little (mocking, never, lol) about people so proud of their new high-tech computer. I love my old desktop 2.4GHz P4, 2GB RAM with XP SP3. Since Second Life is running fine, I have no reason (of course I mean no money) to change it.

The "funny" thing is I discovered the wonderful world of Haptek (my previous passion, lol) with a prehistoric PC under W98SE, and made most of my stuffs with it. Ok, all that in an old story from the last century. Now, a modern computer is unable to run that. The proof:

You see and hear the lovely Lola at the left top of the screen? No? Really?
Your PC is too new! Change it!!  ;D

:D I have to admit I am pleased with my new PC gear, I am not sure if I am proud really - I tend not to be proud of machines, I am the same with cars.  They are more like tools to me, as long as it does what I want then I am happy.

I was satisfied with XP last year but then Windows 7 came out and it was reduced in price as a pre-order so I took the bait.  I am actually happy now I did.

I guess it all depends on what you use it for.  My PC keeps me entertained for hours and I wanted to play some of the new games.  I could have bought a Play Station 3 for the same money, but with a PC you can do so much more.  And of course as you have seen elsewhere I like doing graphics work and the improved PC helps that a lot.

These days I just replace parts of the PC rather than buying a new one.  I feel shocked that when I bought my first PC in 1999 I spent £1200 (1,334.33 EUR) on it !  I would never spend that kind of money these days - although prices have fallen a lot now.

I do think my power supply I bought was a bit mad though lol  :D

So yes that is my defence such as it is ;)
