Best Screen Recorder for Haptek in a Browser?
« on: August 22, 2010, 06:43:46 pm »
IN a web browser uing the Haptek player as a plugin, what if any video screen capture video recorders have people used with luck in obtaining decent framerates? My computer is really old , but for example with Fraps I always could record DX based games pretty decently, I wish I could use fraps with Haptek.

The version of Fraps I have does capture the desktop or what ever is on it, but that option is only available in Vista and Win7, I think.

The one I used to use was Camstudio Screen Capture

http://sourceforge.net/projects/camstudio/

It can be a bit clucky, but if you bear with it, it might get the job done.

EDIT:
I Made this video using Camstudio Screen Capture

I Know, I know, Ive posted this video before  :D

Thank's very much Datahopa.

Camstudio seems to work pretty well with even my older computer. I am experimenting with using a small capture area, so as to maintain a decent framerate and so far  the results appear satisfactory.

Also I was wondering if there has ever existed some type of built in video rendering to the Haptek player?
I notice an apparently obsolete  \setAVI  command listed in the guide, perhaps previously compatible with older versions of the player?

No Problem :)

Yes I agree its satisfactory, good way of explaining it. There might be better ones out there but I haven’t found them.

Fraps is the boss though.

I remember now, I could only make that video because of my new PC, before on my P4 3.2 ghz rig, I couldn’t do it, not at that resolution.

I don’t know about your \setAVI command question, others might.

Hi Joseph and Datahopa, the shortcut to CamStudio is still on the desktop of my (now old) computer, lol. I used it when I was into HTML Haptek skits, Pandorabots, AIML & co. Very nice freeware. I only had two problems:

1- All that was supposed to be watched in fullscreen with a very good image, but of course the screen capture was too laggy. So I reduced the Haptek window in the scripts and the framerate became acceptable... with a naughty loss of quality.

2- The timing of some scripts needed to be rewritten because an increasing shift appeared between image and sound. My computer could not follow! So you can imagine the result with my previous PC under W98...

But all this is an old story. Best regards.  :)
