Title: Heads & Skins by Gamer-T
Post by: GamerThom on January 17, 2006, 02:23:06 am
My newest series of Character Heads were created using People Putty. They are photo-realistic characters. By
that I mean that their appearance and level of similarity to the portrayed subject are as realistically? accurate as
you can get without actually taking a photograph. They are illustrated skins (graphic illustrations) drawn and
shaded by me from observing the characters on film or from looking at publicity pics, the non-celebrity photo-
real characters are done from looking at my own pics of friends & family. You could actually consider these
creations of mine to be animated caricatures without the extremely exaggerated features of cartoon caricatures.  8)

The first character in the series is named Kira. Based on a photo of a friend of mine from when I was in college.  8) Hope you like her as much as I do.

Nice work, and I like the barcode  :grin  . It reminds me I once saw someone with a recyclable symbol tatooed on their head.

Of course Freddy. How could I not use it. It is aesthetically pleasing and the design/layout of the controls seems to have been very well thought out.
Here is one more photo-head to round out the collection of photographic characters- Sally.  ;D

After all the praise for those first characters, I decided to continue creating more of them.
That is, until someone tells me to stop already, enough is enough.

:D My character skins are being downloaded so much I'm going to have to start charging for them.  :o

But seriously. Here are three new male Photo-Character heads with skins in the zip folder.

i am so happy some one listens to my "instruction" hehe   :P
have you tried to place any of your head skins on a full skin? and are these all real people? ~~alady
Title: Re: Heads & Skins by Gamer-T
Post by: GamerThom on January 31, 2006, 01:13:07 am
First answer.
Yes they are all modeled after real people (celebrities), the rest are based on pics of family and friends.
But I didn't? create the skins from actual photos, I just used their publicity pics as reference guides.

Second.
No I haven't. I don't have the software required for doing full bodies (wish I did), unless you mean just
dropping a head skin onto a full-bod while it is loaded into the Hap Player.
I tried that IE6 plug-in that somebody posted at zaba for download, but it doesn't have a save function
for the work. (Pity that).

i mean open up a full skin in a paint program and then place the head skin on top of the old head you might have to resize the head to make it fit ill try to show you what i mean   I THINK IF YOU COULD MASTER THIS THEN YOU COULD SEE WHAT YOUR CREATIONS WOULD LOOK LIKE ON FULL BODIES. ~~alady

Yes, I see exactly what you mean. Digital Imaging & Editing software I've got an excess of.
I'll have to see what I can come up with for you in the way of some new full-bod skins.  8)

Hi,

I am a new member on digitalgirl and I am looking for a head (guy or girl) that looks like an Army sergeant, dressed in fatigues.

Thanks,

gamer if you have access to software programs of that nature you can make about anything you want. thats how i do it . if a make a head in people putty and i like it i attach it to a full skin i like then alter colors etc. . you will find that a different head on the crystal full body girl or even doris will change the way the face looks . its fun and you never know what will happen.. alady

Thanks Freddy and Aladyblond. I try to make my heads as realistic looking as possible, takes a lot of work with the shading, proportions and lighting (highlights & shadows). But with praise like you've given, it's worth it.  :-[ :)

You know what they always say - "Practice makes perfect", and perfectly content to practice creating the best & most realistic Putty heads you can imagine. I've got nothing better to do with my time except sit here in my wheelchair at the computer. Sure beats the hell out of sitting in front of the TV, scratching myself?  :o and letting my mind rot and skills go to waste.  ;D

Speaking of skills. If she were real and alive, what kind of skills do you think Barbara here might possess?     ::)

I thought I would try something a little different in the way you
can view my head characters. Good or Not, you tell me.

*This is just a test of presenting my work in a different way. If you like it I will add there names to each frame.
If you think its necessary I will also extend the duration of each frame.

GamerThom,
I'm impressed at the work you've both done,  unfortunatly it made me think.  I put light areas on the lips and eyes to simulate reflected light but at the same time I'm trying to find a cloth that dosen't appear to be reflecting light.  One seems to be reflecting and the other dosen't in the wrong places.  Any thoughts on this?

Now you did it, you just had to make me think and use my brain.
                                                  (Oww! That hurts.)

Up until now I hadn't really thought about it, most of my designs
are done on the fly - by instinct. Now I'll have to start looking into
it a bit more, once I do I should be able to come up with an
                      answer for you Carl.

I really like the way you use bright colors and the way you blend them like on the cheeks, really a great job.  Yesterday I started fooling around with the feet, trying to make toes, or shoes, but it was so hard I just gave it up, but I might go back to making some sandals or boots or something someday when I get the time.  Keep churnin them out, they are so cool.

I just thought I'd post another character head to keep things going,
it's gotten so quiet around here lately it's like a cemetary for out-dated bots.  ???

So here's my new head, he's a take off on "Spock / Nimoy"
from the Star Trek movie? "The Voyage Home".
The head haptar and such are in the zip folder.

Thanks Tom, yes it's pretty quiet here, maybe spring had got people away from their PC's and doing other things.
