Quadruped robot (mechanical design and assembly)
« on: August 07, 2022, 09:11:57 pm »
I finally put some love into this old project this year and have some good pictures to show! Lots of build and design details on the blog if you want: https://writerofminds.blogspot.com/2022/08/ace-quadruped-30.html

The goal for this phase was to just get the robot to stand up, and I'm happy to say that I achieved that. I'm looking forward to working on it some more in the future and actually getting it moving.

Actuation is stepper motors (for now) via tendons.

Great to see you have some four-legged furry helpers around. Are you building their competition? Should they be worried? Will they lose their purring jobs?

And yes, the artificial quadruped looks also great! That big letters on gray tubes look like from a sci-fi movie.

Oh, I'm sorry, I just realized what you wrote in blog. My condolences for d'Artagnan. I hope he is at better place now.

Ah u beat me to it, along time ago probably.
I love the curved spine looks really effective.

Good to see u doing pully joints, got to have something home made on them, i can see they have a return spring.

I bet these bots can make good play friends for cats.

I have a cool thing to share, I think you can make them move at random and backprop the physics into a normal I/O system, the same as any other.
but then the problem is... everybody knows... and its embarressing, and its too easy to do.  so im not sure what it means for us to actually do this...  and is it potentially as dangerous as a proper weapon?!?!?  just left unutilized as such.

When you see the pully machine,  have a look at the return spring,  and then think "which way is it gonna pull??"  If you get it right, you must be gettin' good!

the robot is really good, ive got nothing to complain about,  i'm actually getting a little spun out about other peoples abilities.  they gotta be good,  so then what the hell am i here for????

and the photos are really good on my oversized television white board thinger.

Well whether you're "better" than anybody else or not, you're going to have your unique spin on things.
And keep in mind the thing doesn't walk yet. All I did was get it to stand up properly. I think I am really slow  ;)
