Yeah, sorry but I haven't heard of technology with this level of real-time scene recognition combined with accurate physics predictions AND functional implementation of Asimov laws. The robot may have lifted its arm on its own, but then more likely in an attempt to greet someone beyond the cupboard. On the other hand if it were entirely staged, they took quite a risk with that kid getting injured.

That was definitely staged.
The boxes are empty, you can tell by how they bounce; and yet taped up closed (with same tape). None of the boxes have markings/ printing to avoid legal issues. Why just one set of shelves on its own? Strange how it’s backed to the stairs so it can be easily/ safely anchored with a rope or chain so it won’t fall too far. The bot hardly moves when it ‘stops’ the shelves… it would have to be extremely heavy not to topple given the leverage's. Who puts big boxes at the top and small boxes at the bottom lol (lucky there where two small boxes above her head on top shelf). Notice as the kid climbs onto the first shelf her foot jolts, she’s practised that before but this time the shelf needed a little extra momentum to get it moving, hence the kick. Just from her posture you can tell she's trying to topple it.
And last but not least… who was filming the scene, why didn’t they stop the kid, they just happened to be filming in that direction when it happened… nah! It can’t be security camera footage because the angle is to shallow, and the camera isn’t high enough.
A simple but effective publicity stunt.

At the least, it only detected someone reaching high at a shelf, and went to grab something, or greet someone.
It's real alive isn't it.

I really wanted to believe it's real, that would have been so cool 8)
But yeah, too many things point to it being staged.
Still a little part of me thinks, if this isn't real now then maybe it will become so in the future.

It could be made real. For example, there exist elevators that open their doors long before you get in, because they are tied into AI that observes people's walking speed, direction and gaze to estimate how likely they are to be heading for the elevator. That's a brilliant bit of foresight engineering.
Now, seeing any human situated above ground level would be a pretty easy to spot invitation for falling off of whatever it is they're on. A robot could move behind them merely to cushion their potential fall. If robots came with cushions, that is.

If that robot was smarter, it would blow up a factory that makes those shelves, long before the shelf was constructed.

Also, there's a humanoid robot in there and the kid decides that the shelf is more interesting? Riiiiight.
But I do believe the creators when they say the robot is not programmed to do this: They're obviously steering it by remote.

Wil if is true Then the robot brain would not care about the kid, with it current brain. The robot compared two
