39 days till Humans, season 3. It says U.S.  How did this sneak up on me.


I thought to put this in general chat since it's not real AI. It's sci-fi. Pretty darn good sci-fi.

Agreed! It should be a good spin.  I read where KillJoys was due back on as well. Dark Matter would have really made me happy but not to be greedy, we take what we are given in due stride. O0

I noticed that on my Humans series 1 blu-ray case. Why is the A upside down? Because they're not really humans?

The upside down A symbol is the universal quantifier symbol from predicate logic. It's an AI thing.

Good to know. So it's used by humans, really. Or do they actually use that ascii character in their code? My logic language uses byte code where I simply map defines as decimal numbers, not ascii.

I prefer to use the keyword "forall" for the universal quantifier (upside down A) and "exists" for the existential quantifier (back to front E) in my human readable source code. It gets compiled to something much more efficient internally.

Mathematicians prefer to use greek letters and other obscure symbols, maybe because they spend more time hand writing on whiteboards than they do having to enter and maintain code.

I believe it was done as to indicate to the more savvy watchers that these "Synths" were to benefit and be adopted for use by all, any, each & every person. Everyone should have their own Synth.

The show goes much deeper than face value as it touches on gender, race, status, society, acceptance, technology, and so much more than just a humanoid robot doing things around the house.

Some have compared it to a couple of my all-time favorites, Bladerunner (the original) and Ex Machina. Obviously, there are others but these were mentioned.

Can't wait to see the new series.

You know who I missed the most in Season 2 was Odi and Dr. George Millican. I was hoping somehow they would have revived George or perhaps transformed him into half Synth.

Yes, it has a cool meaning, but I have to wonder just how many people speak first-order logic language.

I'm sure not very many but I still think the techy writers meant that spelling as a subtle "easter-egg" for those who were about to "get it".

One other comparison I had between Humans and Dark Matter was they both had Tech-savvy young girls on the show.

I only ever watched the first few episodes of the first series of HUM∀NS...

I made it to the end of the first season and enjoyed it. I'd like to watch the rest of it, but the software that I'm writing for myself and the advances that are being made in the real world are so much more interesting and useful. It's hard to find the time or the mind share for speculative fiction anymore.

I agree, flights of fancy are a minor distraction at best... why watch when you could be creating this future... someone has to do it... so little time... and so much to do...
