Title: Robby Garner's Site
Post by: KnyteTrypper on July 30, 2005, 01:45:49 am
There's a lot of interesting stuff to be found by following the links around at Robby Garner's site http://www.turinghub.com/. Take the Turing Test, chat with Landru and Bruce the Somnambulist, listen to the electronic music of Flux Oersted, etc. Also a couple of interesting bots for download.

Good point KT!

I've known Robby and spoken with him for a number of years. His "Albert" chatbot won the Loebner Competition for 1998 & 1999.
He later released and marketed a version called "Fred" that fared pretty well. Robby's a great guy and perhaps a little bit "out there"
in the nice sense of the word. I think that's what makes him and his bots unique!

 :hello:

I haven't known him long, and don't know him well, but I agree he's a "ggod dude." I recently referred to him as the first Renaissance Man the world of AI has produced, lol. I think Albert continues to be the only bot listed in the Guiness Book of World Records. I was trying just to be non-commitally informative in my post about his site, rather than expressing the sincere admiration  I have for him and his work.
