Welcome Toymaker, loved the videos  ;D  What does the big round eye do ?

Thanks for the welcome!

The round eye currently has sensors built in, these are thermal imaging and an I/R ranger.

Just adding face recognition:

Ahh you are the guys that did Cube world - I really liked the idea behind that, it's something I will have to buy at some point.

Thanks for the explanation of what the eye does.  If you have any more videos please feel free to post them.

Cheers :)

Impressive.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I think we are entering into the golden age of robotics, and once vision is cracked, robots will be able to do useful things in unstructured environments, this is my drive.

I am working on object recognition now, and hope to add this to the AIMEC robot in the future. Ai also adds so many exciting possibilities to Robotics!

Nice work so far :)

Is this a personal project or is it something your company is developing to release to the general public ?

Thanks! At the moment its more of a personal project, I want to see how far I can go mixing Ai with robotics. The robot already does a lot of cool stuff when it's connected to the internet.

The robot adapts to its "Primary user" learns what they like then scours the net for thing that may be of interest. AIMEC knows I like SciFi, so it will check the next 7 days TV for SciFi and other programs that I may like, and bring them to my attention. AIMEC parses RSS feeds so it's able to get any kind of news etc. The robot has multiple personalities where it thinks it's all the movie/TV robots in history (very comical). It reads email, controls my mp3 library which I can select artist, album, genre etc by voice, also it has a wireless X10 interface so it can contol house lighting etc. It has a teaching mode, on-line language translation. It has volume occupancy mapping (learn it's surrounding and move through rooms based on the learnt maps and probabilities of objects being in the way). And it does a whole lot more stuff that would make this post very long!

Nothing wrong with a long post toymaker hehe.

is all truly excellent and fascinating stuff to those of us who are less gigted in this area than one such as yourself.

Would love to hear anything you wish to share with us.

Edit: we do have a number count on posts, so either pm myself or Freddy or just keep adding replies to your own post if what you write is too long for one post on its own, and a lil tip, if you write a very long post, copy the text before posting as unfortunatly, errors do happen every now and then :)

I agree with Maviarab. Nothing wrong with long posts. If you've seen some of mine, you've probably thought "tl;dr".

P.S. "tl;dr" is Internet speak for "Too long; didn't read."

There has been some media interest in the AIMEC:3 robot recently!

We were interviewed by Russian TV which was seen by over 100 million viewers in Russia and the former Soviet union.
