I think that consciousness is just a tool (like recognizer or problem solver), by which are we, living beings equipped to steer our emotions and feelings to desired state. Consciousness is just a matter of logic, that is to know what the situation was, is and will (or could) be. What really matters are our emotions and feelings. Consciousness is just a wrapper around them.

Write a simple program that displays a face using vectors and map each facial expression to a series of neuron inputs.

Train a neural net to recognise human speech phonemes for general purpose speech recognition using a normal vocal tone.

Over train/ re-train the neural net using stressed speech vocal tones. (happy/ sad/ anger}

Note the audio cortex areas that respond to the various stressed speech inflections and map the axonal outputs to the face vectors expression inputs.

Stand and talk/ shout at your AGI like a man possessed using the various emotional speech inflections and record video.

Explain to your better half what the hell your doing that’s making so much noise. Lol.  ;D

I've moved on to a simple limbic system now.  The stressed inflections flood cortex areas with simulated neurotransmitters that alter the performance/ function of key groups of neurons in various cortex areas.
It thunk... therefore it is!...    /    Project Page    /    KorrTecx Website

Consciousness is a product of intelligence or intelligent system not the other way around. An intelligent system is measured by the variety and difficulty of problems it can solve. Conciousness is an answer to the problem of "How to stay alive?".

HI goyabee.
Sure, you can help me with my "conscious machine life" program, CML.

I say intelligence is not bound to brain. Problem solving and detection "units" are all around us. Plants or plant groups are the most obvious. They solve and detect problems without consciousness. Also they can be used to solve abstract problems like mushrooms and shortest path problems. Even randomness can be used to solve problems (molecular computer).
Consciousness is more like a gimmick.

Hello Dito00.

Goyabee, how does my theory of consciousness differ from yours?
