Help finding text conversations for AI
« on: April 09, 2016, 06:08:28 pm »
Hi,

I'm writing some AI that will soon need a lot of text conversation so it can learn the written English language. The only idea I have so far is to write a script that slowly parses through forums searching for replies. It's the replies that include a quote of a posts that I'm looking for. Perhaps another option is the Talk section of wikipedia. Wikipedia offers downloads of their entire site, but as far as I can tell it doesn't include the Talk section.

Does anyone have any ideas? Or better yet, maybe someone could send me a file of existing chat text.

I very much appreciate any help.
Paul

I've done some stuff you might wanna take a look at: http://dream-walker.weebly.com/ai.html

But anyway, if you're going to do a "questions/answers" you're best actually using something like the wikepedia API https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API:Main_page and parse output etc. But honestly, it's not really A.I, it more an advanced search engine; regardless, if that's your project, interfacing API's (this also may be of interest which I looked at and considered recently) http://www.kngine.com/QAAPI.html

Another aproach might be to use some form of database with assisted and dynamic learning (storing, retrieving data as well as recognizing patterns)

Wow your AI robot maker seems amazing. It learned English? If so, then how much text data did it take to teach your AI to learn English? I'm guess you fed it conversations. Well, I'm just starting my AI code, in c language using mysql. I'm not going sell it or anything, but just doing it for as hobby. Maybe AI source code could be clever enough it could surpass human thinking on all levels. That would be a challenge with modern hardware. Modern drives probably hold enough storage space, but I read somewhere that the entire human brain has the net processing power of something like 100,000 times faster than modern desktop computers.

I've done some stuff you might wanna take a look at:
http://dream-walker.weebly.com/ai.html

Just some feedback on your site which is hopefully useful...
Your top menu frame is scrolling side to side.

Suggestion:

Shortening "NEWS AND MEDIA" to just "NEWS"
will probably get rid of the scrolling.

Shortening "ABOUT AUTHOR" to just "ABOUT"
may be another way get rid of the scrolling.

If you do not wish to have this website feedback here,
then just PM, and I will promptly edit this post to just say:

YOUR WEBSITE LOOKS FANTASTIC !    ;D

Sorry but I just viewed his website again (last week or so) and everything looks perfect. There is no scrolling that I detected. I'm using Firefox as a browser.

What Linux browser are you trying?

Yes, It look great Craig! ;)

PML ,
I have been where you are searching for chat logs ...

You will find you don't need them ... But ;

I would suggest downloading a "Jarvis" or "ultrahal"
And developing chat logs by chatting with the AI ... As that is a good enough starting point ...

You may find that telephone logs / forums / movie scripts ... Just don't contain sense ... Or real knowledge ...

Unless you were designing a help system from an it Helpdesk ... And used the logs to create decision trees and chat scripts for the system ... But for general chat etc they are useless ....

I would start with basic questions and answers and maybe go from there , with an "I don't know , tell me" for the unknown questions ...

Maybe ?
