That spark of life that was inhaled by the first living being on the Earth some 5.4 billion years ago... Could we reproduce it artificially? And if we could, what would we do? The mistery of artificial life, building an artificial emotional machine... or should I say artificial being?

Anger is our curse if you ask me, I would never build it into an AI.

Fear and affection (love) are cool. Make an experiment and try to live a few hours driven only by those two and you'll see what I'm talking about. I think it's possible to live all the time like that, but we are too lazy and spoiled to do that.

That's of a machine. As of artificial life, I think I wouldn't dare to tell it how to live.

If you lose anger why not lose fear too ?

It's hard not to get angry - when my bicycle got stolen I was angry. How can that be resolved ?

I think you have to have a negative emotion to live (there are events that are not good and you have to have a way to express it).

I like a fear more than an anger. Anger makes you rage in violence. Anger is about forcing others to do something. On the other side, fear makes others think about their deeds. About loosing the bicycle, if you were afraid to lose your job (and consequently lose the resources to feed your family) because you'll be late at the job, that would make the thief consider what he was doing. But the thief thought you'll be just angry with a bad reason, or didn't care about you because he didn't like you, or he was angry at you because you had everything and he had nothing.

Anyway, a fear gives people a choice and that should make you a better person by my calculations. Anger forces, fear politely asks. But that is just an experiment, some utopian idea, and I think it doesn't work beside the animals (they can't reason about you). Beside people it might work, I guess no one hates a friend, but they have to know you're a friend (because we are still semi-animals).

Fear could be used as a justification for anger, but is anger what would a real friend feel?

P.S.
Sadness comes consequently after fear, when other's reaction to your fear is not good. It means: I'm not happy with it, but if that's your decision, there is nothing I will do about it.
