Be the Judge
« on: February 03, 2017, 02:12:07 pm »
With the rapid growth and development of Artificial Intelligence, it might be entirely possible to have lawyers and judges replaced by, yep...computers...rather strong A.I. based computers.

They would have all the knowledge at their disposal of all the court cases or whom vs whom and in which years along with any applicable outcomes.

Their case might not even need to be presented to a judge. If the judge was an A.I. it could just skip having the lawyers and could easily rule on the case itself. Based on facts and circumstances it could  provide a ruling that would be swift and according to the law of the land. No more plea bargaining and getting off because you know this person or slept with this person or play golf with this person. You do the crime, you do the time. :knuppel2:

In fact, the very day might come where the justices on the Supreme Court (in the USA) could all be replaced by computer A.I.).

No, I'm not taking this any farther for now. Leave some room for some more thinking first.

Lock, It's not a robot, simply a very intelligent A.I. with the access to the world's largest legal database.

Therefore, it has no need for substance offers of any kind and since it knows the law, it would quickly realize an attempt at a bribe and assign a quick and suitable fine or punishment for that as well.

being judged by....

Art, you would have to go further.  You would have to replace the judiciary and the executive in order to have it follow rules made.

laws are not balances between fairness and compromise and reality.

laws are strength of will written on paper.

It depends on who's behind the reins as to the direction of the horse.

Law , like medicine and engineering, is still termed a practice.

Everything evolves over time and what one person sees as wonderful or useful another person might see it with disdain and uselessness.

Therefore any A.I. in the future, that is placed to govern or oversee any of these mentioned fields or the thousands of others must remain current with the vicissitudes of life in our society.
