If there is one person who stands out in a field which has attracted so many brilliant researchers, it would be this guy, Ilya Sutskever. This presentation about AGI is one of the best I've ever seen. He explains clearly and concisely why and how neural networks can do what they do, and why they have been better than the alternatives so far.
