Quantum Computing is almost there
« on: March 14, 2018, 03:00:24 pm »
Some headline news the other day about Google and their Quantum Computer technology that they're working very hard on:

Google’s Bristlecone Quantum Computing Chip Achieves 72 Qubits
https://www.engineering.com/Hardware/ArticleID/16635/Googles-Bristlecone-Quantum-Computing-Chip-Achieves-72-Qubits.aspx

Man, we're getting so close to interesting times. You think we're in interesting times now? Just wait one to two more decades. Hold on because IMO it will be one hell of a ride!!!!

I definitely think we are living in interesting times. Just look how far things have come in the computing world just since the 80s  8)

Yup. My dad talks about working on one of the earliest computers. I recall him saying it was the 2nd in the world. He said it took up a vault, the memory used magnetic toroids (if memory holds true) that you could see with the unaided eye, and took tons of power. An old handheld calculator is more powerful. It took decades to get a usable computer that people used in homes. Quantum computing is new, but it's making major headway. Give it a few decades and we'll will look back at present Quantum computers and just laugh. I for one can hardly wait. :)

... exaflop ... zettaflop ... yottaflop ... haha that will be considered slow or whatever performance units they'll use. ;)

Science is already (and has been) transmitting huge amounts of data via laser light. Imagine the future. Wait until they are able to disassemble physical objects at the source, transmit via light to a destination and reassemble the physical objects. And lo...we have the first working Transporter! One to beam up Scotty! ;)
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

Talking about lasers Art, :

We have instant 3D printing using lasers, instant 3D writing/reading to Superman Memory Crystal using lasers, instant 3D scanning/hologram using lasers through a glass block/objects in room. We could scan people in a room, have people wearing VR/etc gear be in a 3D replica of the room, and then put a hologram in the real room at the same time of the people moving in the sim, so both the real & virtual users can react to eachother. 3D foglets to make the real world copy the simulation world.

LOLOLOL

Again, that is - instant laser 3D: scanning, wright/read, hologram in glass, and printing.

Also transmission of data (send ur profile around the planet and be resurrected in a sim or real body's brain that another AI wirelessly left out of - there's ur teleportation)

Or maybe we'll all go underground where our physical body lies connected to a device where we live in a virtual reality world where we can be anything we want.

Underground you could switch between any body above ground. Just with a little latency if you don't transfer your algorithm wirelessly and instead only your I/O.

That's true. We could live in robot bodies through a virtual system. Like in the movie Surrogates. Everyone could look like a model. :)

how about transforming our bodies into a sort of energy field that could take any shape we want? And we would power ourselves from the Sun - ten minutes a day would be enough.
