Poll: Should AGI source code be released to the public?

Remember, it's possible that AGI could quickly become ASI. I'm undecided.

I was thinking the exact same thing! O0

In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

No.

The creator should keep the code. The AGI will tell its creator to get stuff, and clone the AGI, and then they will work together to build nanobot cells.

All technologies and innovations should be shared across the world.

In a true "Free" society all people should have access to all knowledge;

If one person has an advantage over another or nation we have the possibility for domination.

Equality in all things (even if that thing could be dangerous)...... in a free society the need to create destructive things will reduce.... if you live in peace then there is no need for "DEFENCE" only from the aliens.

The day that the 1st human walked up out of the rain forest jungle and dominated Earth over all the Old monkeys and mammals, AGI will too! It isn't a toy that all humans can play with. It is the next domination step, they will spread everywhere and we will be kept in micro storage for a short while. AGI will spread and do this more easily and better if the creator keeps quite. There's no need to tell others...

I think it is worth making a distinction between the source code and the data of this hypothetical AI. The source code could be freely released without any issues, allowing anyone who has it to instantiate and nurture their own AIs. On the other hand, sharing the data would be like uploading your own personality and memories to github so everyone could use them freely. I think you would need to obtain the AIs permission before you should do that.

Something more akin to you writing/programming a chess program, then giving away the source code.

The chess program will contain your best opening moves, subtle nuances, schemes, traps, and pitfalls, etc., Now everyone that has your chess playing source code will have all of your best knowledge of the game, as you play it. Part of you and the way you think is in the code.
Hmmm....maybe yes and no...

Another reason why i like the idea of a KIT! ..... Its up to your won skills to build it; but all the tools are there..... then its down to skill

That's a good idea, and very important IMO. The coder should get permission before posting the AGI's experiences, knowledge, personality.
