What do you like about it? What do you not like about it?

Great one! Avoid the bananas!  Quadrupeds seem to have a broad range of abilities.

Open Dog using  arduino and excell, that is cool, goes to show that common tools can get the job done.

you can go for a taxidermy like effect,   similar to terminator i guess.
Making surreal artificial animals/monsters.   A robot can be anything,  it can be a doll....  chucky doll? :)

Or the tinsmith approach - makes a nice 50's robot, or prior 50's.

Or maybe combine the two,  taxidermy a soft robot,  then giving shiny tin- mail.

I like c3po -  the golden robot is a nice "rich" metal to give a robot that is especially dear to you, and i also like to recall the little brass robot from return to oz,  i liked him.   He ran on a perpetual spring engine.

But what im definitely not into,   is making them too close to sexy women,   im not a robo-f****er.
and if i did,  it would be a gymnist,  its not for sick depraved nerd activity.

That's the mad scientist's approach to global warming. Make a super intelligence that has to maintain a body temp below freezing. I shudder to think...

I still contend that the design of AMEE of the movie: The Red Planet, was one of the most practical quadruped robots I've seen. Of course, the Spot mini and Big Dog are real entities but the topic was about design, real or imagined.

Amee's flexibility, independent limb motion coupled with advanced directive control plus the sampling of soil, environment, weather conditions, scouting, reporting, and self-preservation etc., would make it the ideal "smart" being to take on an interplanetary voyage.
