A few days away from the robots.net mailbox and it's full again. Let's
see, Trossen Robotics announced winners for their February TRC contest
including Kåre
Halvorsen's Phoenix in first place, Stephen
Hobley's Frameless Laser Harp in second, and Nathaniel
Barshay's eyeRobot in third.  Amy McKinzie sent us a link to
a story on Japan,
robots, and Shintoism. As prolific as ever, Roland Piquepaille sent
links to his latest stories on CMU's new haptic
sensor, a software
agent called MindMentor that supposed to be capable of providing
psychological counseling, and the RobuCAB robot taxi,
Jim Garvin sent a link to a series
of video podcasts he's doing on creating a robot moth. Mark Fleming
sent a link his
blog post about the quickening pace of robot development. The
Swirling Brain sent us links to several interesting stories including a
story on hacking
the Tux Droid (see our previous story on Tux
Droid). He also pointed out an Engadget
story with new video of the BigDog quadruped robot.
