The Axon: An Atmel-based Robot Microcontroller

John Palmisano of the Society
of Robots website writes, "I wanted to bring to your
attention my product release - a microcontroller designed to be simple
enough for any beginner, but powerful enough for any expert. Its built
from an ATmega640, can handle 29 servos, has 3 UART + USB, built in
power bus, and a built in bootloader."  The Axon board has a lot of
useful I/O including I2C, SPI, up to 16 ADCs, 9PWM channels, up to 18
interrupts, and 6 timers. A growing
collection of software is available for the Axon. It includes 64 KB
Flash, 4 KB EEPROM, and 8KB SRAM. The best part is that Axon hardware
and software is licensed under the GNU GPL,
which assures your right to
view, modify, and reuse the technology. For more, see the Axon
datasheet and Axon FAQ.
