NASA Wants You To Name the Next Mars Rover

Cassie
Bowman of NASA writes, "NASA is inviting students in grades K-12
to help name the rover for
the Mars Science Laboratory mission. K-12 students can write a short
essay suggesting a name, and may even win a trip to NASA's Jet
Propulsion Laboratory to meet the engineers who built it.  The winner
will also have the chance to sign his or her name on the rover prior to
its launch. Students 13 and younger must submit a mail-in form with a
parent/guardian signature.  Students 14-18 years old may submit by mail
or online. The contest ends January 25, 2009." If you'd like to read
more about the new Mars robot itself, you can find all the details at
JPL's Mars Science
Laboratory and MSL
Science Corner websites. Let the naming begin. And good luck with
that Rube Goldberg landing scheme - they must have had people working
overtime
to come with the most complex possible way of landing a Mars rover!
