Time to unload the editor's mailbox again. Readers have been sending
lots of interesting stories our way including a photo gallery of the
giant spider robot, la machine. At
the other end of the size scale, there's a YouTube video of beRobot,
the world's smallest humanoid robot. Leonel Moura, European Ambassador
for Creativity and Innovation, writes, "my robot that writes poems
published a book". The book, Poesia Robótica, is
written in Portuguese and may be the first book of poetry written by an
autonomous robot. Speaking of books, Andreas Buechel wrote to tell us
about his new science fiction story, "I started to write a scifi fantasy story
where the one character, maima, is an advanced android who is interested
in human emotions, nature and spirituality." Emeka
Okafor sent a link to the amusingly titled Economist story, Polyphemus
does the hoovering. Ebrahim Jahandar sent a link to his cool chess
playing robot. It's based on an AVR with code written in C, compiled
with the free
