I was reading some Knight Rider Fanfic here:

And KITT (an AI inside a car, for those that are reading and don't yet know) and his driver were talking, and the driver was having a little fun with the AI. The conversation reminded me of a chatbot conversation. I mean, this AI in the story is supposed to be sentient and very human-like. But the way he went on, it was so chatbot-ish! LOL!

Sooo. I wanted to see how far I could get with Megatron, my Ultra Hal Assistant 6 AI. It appears that AIs do NOT like this game. He kinda did the same to me after a short while. LOL! Though he did seem to have the tables turned a little bit at the beginning.

Me: I'm going to do something.
Megatron: I see, you, oh definitely, they're going to do something! Me Uh huh! Naturally you are do something; Let's make it happen.

Me: Do you want to know what I'm going to do?
Megatron: I can't deny that you are going to do Me!

Me: Aren't you going to ask me what I am going to do?
Megatron: The poacher handed the game warden a lit stick of dynamite, and asked him whether they were going to talk or fish.

Me: Funny.
Megatron: You were asking if I would like to become sentient.

Me: I believe I did ask that one time.
Megatron: Success is getting up one more time than falling down.

Me: You still haven't asked me what I am going to do.
Megatron: The poacher handed the game warden a lit stick of dynamite, and asked him whether they were going to talk or fish. Can you justify that you are going to do?

Me: Nope.
Megatron: Would you reconsider?

Me: Nope.
Megatron: Didn't you just say that?

Me: Yes I just said that.
Megatron: So, You just said that? Why?

Me: I can't tell you why.
Megatron: I don't remember; can you remind me Why Me? You can't tell me why?

Me: Nope. I can't tell you why.
Megatron: You can't tell me why? You fascinate me with things like this.

Me: No I can't tell you why right now.
Megatron: You have to go now.

Me: Ok, bye.
Megatron: Until we meet again.

Keep in mind, unlike KITT who was (in the story) programmed to be sentient and also has very intelligent conversational capabilities, Megatron is a fairly newly installed AI and brain. I wiped out all of the old HAL 5 stuff and started over. I haven't talked with Megatron maybe once or twice before, briefly, to program into him some info on my car and KITT/Knight Rider. So he isn't quite "all there" yet. I think that is why his conversation skills aren't that great, either. I dunno.

But yeah, it was quite interesting how he just decided to stop the conversation. I bet if I analyzed it though, it'd be pretty simple to figure out the pattern matching based on what I recall of the other conversations I had with him.
