This video details a stereo camera rig that I've built for the Oculus Rift, and showcases a series of augmented reality demonstrations. The video also covers a method to use the Rift wirelessly.
I came by this today and I think it's really impressive. Can't wait until I can play games like this !

How soon before we see this in Second Life then ?

Very good! Now is would seem that things really ARE just figments of my imagination after all!! ::)
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

Interesting. I know that old 3D solutions for SL exist (prehistoric red-blue glasses for anaglyphs) since the beginning.

Not for dummies like me. Because (in my humble opinion) the most important in SL is what we do, not what we see.

My low settings (on my netbook with Singularity) are perfect for me. Why matter about 3D? BTW SL isn't a game... :)

Very impressive technology, especially that it's been put together with some "off the shelf" bits and some specially made parts too.

My only concern is the lag or delay as mentioned in the video, for gamers lag is normally unacceptable and you just know that it has to be sorted out for this to be a success. It's close though.

It probably wouldn't matter to people who play SL as they are used to lag and see it as part of their everyday SL experience.

Sorry GT40 of course Second Life is not a game  ;D

Data, yes the lag would be an issue, but it's getting there one step at a time.

I see lag in some of the games I play and at least half the time it is down to the game server. For example, as some of you know, I play LOTRO and people complain of lag even on fast PCs. My PC is no slow coach now and the specifications for this game aren't really next generation.

So yup, the server has to speed up too imho. And then we all need Fibre Optic broadband of course  ;D
