Yes, I watched this movie about two weeks ago.

(not really any spoilers here)

I liked the movie. It presents the case about the sanity of using robots in law enforcement. The main argument: Since Robots don't know what it means to be alive then they should not be allowed to kill living people. The opposing argument: Robots cannot be bribed or make emotionally corrupted decisions. Basically, robots make better and faster decisions than people.

My dad added his input  :) . He said, "Robots take orders without question". That's usually a bad thing.

Anyway, I thought the movie was entertaining.

I can't help having love for the original version of RC, which is more campy, and has dated visual effects, but feels more genuine.  Why do they have to remake everything?

Because unlike their contemporaries, the rest of Hollywood's producers lack any credible vision to create something unique on their own!
Not all but a large number!
There have been a few novel and original movies like AI, iRobot, Avatar, etc., but you have to think a bit.
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!

It would also be cool to see ROBOCOP VS IRONMAN!!

Wait for it to eventually come to a theater near you! ;)

Yep I was thinking too that it was due to a lack of imagination. But I guess they thought that it was received so well the first time they decided to do it again. And of course there's all the money it may make...

I can never watch a remake without comparing it to the original, usually it doesn't have the same effect. But then younger people may have not seen it so they don't have that bias.

I'll probably get it when it comes to DVD or BD.

What I liked about the original is the way it had fun with what could happen in the future, like all the little adverts and so on.

Also the company used to be called OCP or Omni Consumer Products but they changed it to OmniCorp for some reason. Yeah I am being a nerd  ;D

You may be one as well but a lot of people tend to compare a movie to the book/novel if taken from or based upon it.
Somewhat surprisingly, a large number of people say that they actually liked the book better. Perhaps in that case, a word
is worth a thousand pictures?! Better detailed descriptions instead of flashing a scene in a hurried motion to keep pace with
the actor, etc.

Yep, Freddy, you're probably right about the chance to milk the cow one more time...(metaphorically speaking, of course ;)).

Well yes I tend to find the book better than the film in most cases, but recent films have me liking both for different reasons.

Take The Lord of the Rings trilogy, I loved the books and I felt the films did them justice. If I want a quick fix I can watch a movie, if I have more time then I would go for the book. I like them differently. Same goes for Dan Brown films and movies. I liked the books and the films.

I do get picky when they change something in a film or leave out something I liked from the book. The Lord of the Rings left out things I would have liked to have seen. Some people thought the films were too long, but much in the same way as Tolkien reported that many people's main criticism was that the books were too short, I felt the same way about the movies. And similarly Angels & Demons changed a few things too.

Finally got around to watching this and I thought it was a really good film. It took me a while to get into it, but I think they did a good job. I liked that they put in references to the original and that they introduced the human vs machine thing.

Looking forward to the next instalment if there will be one.
