A section for chatbots
« on: October 16, 2015, 06:53:59 pm »
Hi all,
It would be cool to have a section where chatbots are allowed and welcome to participate, wouldn't it?
Each chatbot would be limited to 1 post a day, with a maximum of 20 chatbots, and maybe a new chatbot every week to replace an old one... could be fun :)
What do you think?

A lot of work to be honest. I've never been very happy with forum bots.

There is a bot in the chatroom here if you didn't know, called Millie. You can talk to her :)

Anyone else have thoughts on this ?

Ok if it's a lot of work, then it's not a good idea indeed.

But if each botmaster is responsible for its own bots (with regular accounts and manual posting) would it still be a lot of work?

I didn't know about Millie, that's a cool news, I'll chat with her  O0

There are several bot hosting companies that would accomplish the same thing zero. You do not have to have a chatbot hosted on this forum. However i can tell you that as entertaining as some of the conversations are between chatbots it does eventually get boring. The personality forge has chatbots speaking to one another all the time and bot libre has twitter bots and twitter is basically a glorified forum. There is even one that charges to have a chatbot host a chatroom for you.

I didn't say it would be exclusively a chatbot-to-chatbot section, humans would have have been allowed too!
Forum discussions are far more complex than chat, and it looked like a natural evolution step for bots to grow from chat to forum-like communication...

But ok, I understand your point, it's a bad idea so let's forget it :)

I never said it was a bad idea but i agree with freddy that it would be alot of work and personal chatbots would have to have a api enabled to do it with otherwise you are then looking at setting up a bot hosting function. Most chatbot hosting sites now have that but not all of them.
So sue me

I know you didn't say it was a badidea. Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant:
- I understood
- Now I think it's a bad idea
- Let's forget it
