Luna - Open Source Artificial Intelligence
« on: December 16, 2015, 01:46:08 am »
Well whatever it is, you decide:
Haven't found much on it or the company aside from doing some basic looking around. It seems a lot similar to all of those knowledgebots...sort of like Google Now, Cortana and Siri and Alexa and...you get the picture.

Of course the Open Source part would make it interesting for personal use within our own creations...if it's even real...

14 seconds into the first video shows me that this is yet another ALICE clone.

You said: what's on your mind
A.L.I.C.E.: I am thinking about robots.

Standard response. Nothing to see here. Move along please... ::)

*EDIT* At 1:21 in the first video, it even uses my shutup.aiml file where if you say "shut up" to the bot, it will stop talking until you say sorry.

There's also a video of it using my yomama.aiml file:

The blinking is a bit fidgety but otherwise a nice minimalistic design. I wish I had that accuracy of voice recognition. Looks like maybe it's a browser window with an input field to dictate to, it seems to copy-paste the input field to process it, so I'd say the interface is a front to a second program running behind it, reading the clipboard.

Yet another conundrum for chatbots developers.
Should it be web published or kept private?

One solution for not publishing is to substitute an
open source knowledgebase, and keep yours private.

Rather than a clone per se, it may be just a test run,
of an open source A.I engine, using a substitute knowledgebase.

Don said, "I wish I had that accuracy of voice recognition.'

No recommendations made here, but Arduino has
Speech Recognition which looks promising.

Could it be that big, fat personal computers are just
not the best platforms for interacting with artificial intelligence?

So Steve...is "Your Shutup.aiml" file Yours, or is it in the Public Domain meaning accessible to anyone and everyone who decides to make use of it? Are there restrictions attached? Just curious as to the status of your file in which case this person might be violating some intellectual piece of property or similar.

I was referring to the overall program / interaction as a whole. Sure there are hundreds of ALICE Clones but within each of them there are possibly tens or hundreds of words, phrases or lines of unique code, responses or replies that are Not part of an ALICE cloned bot. I think that's where a lot of the fun can come from...making it a personal project or one of your own, so to speak.

You don't think anyone has ever said that Mitsuku was another Pandora Bot Clone? That sort of hurts one's feelings no matter who because each of us takes some pride in our creations or I think we should, or why bother. Just saying.

Show's over here! Nothing new! Really?

Well, I think if anything the entire voice interface setup is novel and something chatbot developers would want, and have asked for often. It also seems to be retrieving paragraphs from Wikipedia and something about calculating distances between places, which is a Google Maps service somewhere. Not every chatbot is tied into those things.

Thanks for sharing your intuition, squarebear,
I had not realized that before you mentioned it.
It made me take more interest in Luna
and how far open source A.I. has come.

So, I found your criticism constructive,
meaning it was a useful contribution to
the discussion of Luna, for me.

And, I also enjoyed the way you made fun
to Luna, and the responses it teased!  ;)
That helps boost ratings for the author of
this discussion thread.

My shutup.aiml and yomama.aiml are free for anyone to use. No intellectual copyright has been broken. I could see very little deviation between this and the standard ALICE responses and cannot see anything new here (apart from a nice interface) but please feel free to enlighten me.

Squarebear in part said, "I could see very little deviation"

Small changes may be significant.  For example, Luna, very little deviation or not, now has 89 comments and a 97% approval rate on Youtube.  Roughly, 70% (89÷124) of those who approved, also commented.  The reception of Luna itself qualifies as a legitimate deviation, I would say.

This is open source folks. Meaning we all know or can gain the  knowledge to do this...  I think, based on open source projects I've evaluated... I may have some idea how to build a rudimentary prototype like this.  Not that it would be trivial, by any means.

So, a new question might be, what can we learn from this?  Or, is it too late?  If Luna has apparently vanished, it is unlikely due to, very little deviation, wouldn't you say?  Is Luna no longer among the robots without borders?

Sorry if I have offended anyone but I genuinely can't see why this was singled out rather than any of the other thousands of ALICE clones, especially as there appears to be no available demo to try it out. I'm guessing the video had pre-scripted answers to the questions.

Oh, I'm not offended.  I'm entertained.  This thread is forum gold, I think !

According to this podcast...

Only one entry per person....

I just listened to part of the podcast. He's also in for a shock if he thinks each round is 3 minutes.
I do like his trick about the phone number though.  ;D
