Hello AI Dreams Community
« on: November 10, 2013, 07:57:24 pm »
Hello AI Dreams Community,
This is James Sutherland, just introducing myself,

I started my own intelligence automation company, Paphus Solutions Inc. recently, and am currently producing the BOTlibre! website and Android app,

http://botlibre.com/

The website allows anyone to create their own free chat bot, with free hosting, recreational, academic, or commercial.

The bots learn, can be scripted, and have a database memory, emotions, avatars, and have a host of administrative functions for monitoring and training them.
You can embed the bots on your own website or blog.  The website is just getting started, and new features are being added daily.

My other interests include financial trading automation, performance optimization, and Enterprise Java services.

Hello James and welcome to our forum :)

I'll take a proper look at your site in a while, first impressions are good though, I like the clean look :)

Hope to see you in the forum, and feel free to drop any updates in as you see fit.

Cheers.

Hi

I am interested in broad AI architecture, to:
learn without human input
teach without human input
build a view of the world independent of human intervention (after initial gestation training)
have machine imagination
possess a robust fault tolerant design
be based on open standards wherever possible
evolve in relation to the architecture
be hardware and software neutral
to use ontology's beyond human equivalents.

Well two for the price of one! Heh... Seriously...Welcome Paphus and Vinyl.

You both seem to have your goals clearly laid out before you so, I'll simply say,
Welcome to the Site and hoping your Ai Dreams become as real as you want them to be!

(nice tagline, Freddy!)

Cheers and all the best!

Hi Vinyl, welcome to Ai Dreams. That's quite a determined list, how long do you think it will take or alternatively how long have you set aside to complete your project ?

Hope you enjoy the site :)

It's my idea for a full AI architecture, do you think I will get the resources I need? -:)

Oh! I should add I outlined how to do the imagination part 10 years ago. It is actually easier than you would think, if the architecture is suitable, that is.

It's like asking how long is a piece of string !  ;D

If I were attempting this kind of thing I would look around to see what has been done before.  For example there's plenty of AI projects over on Source Forge. I'd probably start there and maybe avoid re-inventing the wheel. Although if you are keen programmer then the challenge may be a draw.

Thanks, I have looked, but I will stick to what I started ten years ago. Most of the AI architectures that I am aware of, will not work in the way I want, for obvious reasons.

I would liken it to making a flying machine, once you stop trying to flap the wings and go another route it becomes easy. You don't use feathers and cannot fly like a hummingbird, but you can build a quadcopter.

A piece of string is twice as long as half it's length.

Vinyl,
I'd much rather try to change horses in mid stream than to change flying machines in mid air (if you get my drift). :o ;)

Well Broad AI is still not flying is it?

Most current Broad AI systems have two basic flaws, as far as I can see.

1) They are trying to emulate a system (the brain) that is not yet fully understood
2) The hardware and software used is very different to the system to be emulated.

The complex workings of the brain are inextricably linked to the biochemistry of the brain, the nature of the brain and its architecture have evolved to provide intelligence.

Narrow AI works well, I have worked with such a system (using simulated annealing and genetic algorithms) in the 1980's, but real time real world AI is still not working.

Hi Vinyl! whats stopping you from doing exactly that ...flying thing I mean....smile. And I suspect if these are typical flaws of AI or whatever folks like to call it my friend. Maybe its just you looking in wrong direction.

The main problem as I found out is, obiviously! it might not be so! I am not so well learned person or formal computer literate. And most of all I myself destroyed whatever could be there...smile...obiviously for my own reasons whatsoever foolish. But I think its moreover a problem of trying simulate something which have various inputs (senses) which you simple computer program don't have unless you makeup for those things. Then I think overall logic will condense to very little similar logic but sure its gonna take lots of efforts. But maybe I am wrong ...as always may I say...haha. Anyway Hi to all! Hoping to send some quality time here with you all, my friends. :)

Anyway, I think still within limited resources something beneficial can be structured. And I think its main use is in field of web search engine or web page translation software.

Years ago I had a friend who didn't have a computer. When I asked him why he told me that he was going to wait until "they" got it right.

I promptly told him, "Then you are never going to own a computer." (explaining to him that the technology of both hardware and software are constantly evolving, changing, mutating to a newer, bigger, better, faster...blah...blah...device and he might as well jump on the wagon and get a computer or forever be lost in the dust of change.

He eventually, much to his dismay, purchased a computer then winced when I informed him that he definitely needed an anti-virus / anti-malware program.

I think he's all over the initial shock and seems to be doing well with his computer though I don't thinks they are really good friends yet. ;)

The point is, there are a lot of things we either don't know completely or haven't mastered, still we give it our best attempt to construct, test, rebuild if or as needed and forge ahead.

TO simply say that it's too hard or we don't know enough about gizmos so we shouldn't try to build one is kind of a defeatist attitude in that one is giving up without trying all avenues.

This is just my $.02 and your attitude / outlook might vary and that's fine too. O0
