Hello World
« on: May 01, 2017, 01:49:37 am »
Hi everyone!  I'm an electrical engineer in the aerospace industry who works on robotics and AI in her spare time.  I'm here to brag about my project and see what kind of cool stuff everybody else is making.  Said project is named Acuitas and you can read about him here: http://writerofminds.blogspot.com/2017/04/acuitas-semantic-net-ai-introduction.html

My AI is built on top of a semantic net which can store relationships between concepts (like class membership and so forth).  Parsing of user input is handled with a combination of hard-coded grammar rules, word-use statistics, and eventually (when I get this far) stored information from the net itself.  But it's not just a conversation engine or information database; it runs continuously and experiences time.  And it's still VERY much a work in progress.

Be seeing you around!

Oh hey, you commented on my blog recently. Nice to see you've found your way here. Looking forward to seeing your program develop, and if you ever need help on programming grammar rules.... well, don't ask me :P. Grammar is a mess. Of course there also are things like Stanford's CoreNLP that can parse the language for you.

Very interesting @WriterOfMinds about forging reading and writing into a machine.

Welcome to the forum WriterOfMinds :)

I found your article really interesting as some of this has been going through my mind recently. You've got further than I have, I still basically have a traditional chatbot system but found it interesting to look at ways of storing and using knowledge from interactions too. I'm a long way off !

I liked the graphical representations of the knowledge  8)

Look forward to seeing how you progress.

Hi WinterOfMinds

I noticed you owned the four first generation books by Madeleine L' Engle

The title 'A wind in the door' was still fresh in my mind when I read your full post... for some strange reason I then read your Avatar name as 'Winterofminds'.

Hehe... I've been imagining you as a senior melancholy figure picking a name like that... I only just re-read it correctly...

Welcome WriterOfMinds lol.

Hi there WinterOfMinds

Just so you know, there are other semantic net chatbots around, which are very good.
One of them is called, ChatScript, and the semantic net it uses is called WordNET.

I also did one in PHP using an earlier WordNET version but it is archived presently.
Mine, was light duty compared to ChatScript.   However, it certainly used WordNET.

And, WordNET is a semantic net.   I hope to take mine out of the archives soon.
At the moment, I am still reading your blog.  By the way, it looks well designed.

There is so much more to chat about.  This is a really terrific topic.

@8pla: I was aware of WordNET but did not know that Chatscript drew on it. I might have to look into that some more; thanks for the tip.

@korrelan: Now I'm scratching my head wondering how you found out that I own those.  My Goodreads profile would tell you, but how did you get there from my blog?   :D
