Title: Hello
Post by: frankinstien on May 13, 2020, 03:17:14 am
I finally decided to introduce myself, however, I have written a few posts on this forum.

I am a software engineer I do have an M.S. while I don't work in the A.I. field I have been thinking about A.G.I. for a long time now.  I remember when I was a kid I thought to myself what is meaning? A voice answered: "it's the ability to react to information, whatever that is, that is what it means to that person, animal or thing." I do often speak to myself so not to worry its normal, for me at least, maybe? :stars: So now here we are in the future with computers that can store trillions of bytes and are microscopic, if such machines were built in the 50s or 60s with vacuum tubes the energy to power them would melt the crust of the earth!

Since the Corvid-19 shut down I have a lot more time on my hands, so I set out to see what others are doing. This forum looks like the right place to exchange ideas.

Welcome aboard Frankinstien. This forum is a very good place (the best place?) to have fun with A.I. and to make friends with people with similar interests from all over the world. It also has a very long history by internet standards.

Yes it is normal to think (or speak) to yourself. Only worry if you hear two or more voices and they don't speak to you directly, they speak to each other about you. Then you should see a doctor.

Hi Frankinstien!

I liked your website blog posts! I'm working on AGI and am pretty far.

To me the meaning of the word "meaning" is all about context - surrounding words and phrases. In the sentence "my beaver was at a bank" you may see an ambiguous word bank, it, 5sqa, ?, bakn, b.a.n.k, etc, and you can still recognize/predict what should be there or what kind of bank it is and can refine the sentence into "my beaver was at a financial building". Or what "it" refers to ex. "my duck... it was cold".
