Newbie Come to Learn
« on: December 05, 2009, 01:49:00 am »
Greetings and salutations

I am new to the world of AI on the PC. I have always found the concept of artificial intelligence intriguing, but never made time for it until now.  I worked in the telecommunications industry until a recent illness disabled me and so now I'm trying to find meaningful things to occupy my time.  I recently discovered Ultra Hal Assistant 6.2 and this has fired my imagination.  With my background I know systems hardware pretty well (at least those portions I have clear memories of), but I never delved too deeply into the programming aspects of IT.  It now appears that I have all the time I'm allotted to learn some parts of it.

I look forward to browsing and participating in the forum.  I hope you'll be patient with me if I seem to ask some pretty basic questions, but all learning must begin somewhere.

Regards,

LDS

Welcome to the forum.

Lots of things to see and do here as well as a wealth of information (though info is only really useful if you know it means and know what to do with it imo) heh.

Feel free to ask any questions, but would ask you to have a good look round also and use the search facility. Anything unsure of then again, ask away. We run a fairly open forum (thouth we like to keep it as organised and structured as possible) but sometimes some topics run away in different directions to the original topic but we leave these at there is valuable information to be had (but this can make finding things hard at times).

We have lots of very knowledgable members here including members from other forums/sites and chatbots etc.

Welcome. This site is the best out there that you'll find to discuss a.i.

Nothing wrong with discussing the basics. I find that going back to the basics is a good place to start if I lose my way.

My email is one of the icons under my avatar. Feel free to email me personally with a question or private message me over the forums.

By all means, welcome aboard, LDS! Always glad to see some new faces (so to speak) and get some fresh ideas and interactions.
In the world of AI, it's the thought that counts!
